Odynovo is amazing! This was my 3rd trip with Odynovo (also went to Egypt & Dubai with them). We spent a couple days in Chengdu with Pandas (adorable!), drinking tea and learning Mahjong (with the help of some locals!), doing a cooking class and trying to learn calligraphy (loved the students who gave helpful tips). We also added in a Sichuan Opera show and a stop at the Sanxingdui relics.
I highly recommend my travel consultant Gina with Odynovo. She was able to plan the perfect trip for my family. I like to pack in as much as possible and she lived up to every expectation! She picked out The Temple House for our stay and it’s the best hotel we have ever stayed in! Odynovo truly listens to it’s travelers and customizes the perfect trip! Drivers and tour guides are always the BEST and always on time, friendly and ready to share their knowledge. We loved every moment!

We spent one day in Chengdu. The morning was spent at the Panda Base Research Centre - that was an awesome stop - saw 3 adult pandas, 8 'teenagers' and 3 babies - about 8 months old. Lots of great photographs. Also saw a couple of red pandas which was a totally new species for us. All of this in a natural setting, well cared for.
We also visited 2 old market areas and saw lots of fascinating architecture and local crafts, such as spun sugar creations, as well as some 'foreign-to-us' food choices. The central park was beautiful and the location of seniors coming together to learn different dance steps, ballroom, line dancing and so on. We also learned about the advertisements from parents looking for matches for their unmarried adult children. The park was very scenic as well with water and bridges and nice walking paths. We also visited briefly the Tibetan area - which was interesting. It was a very full day, but worthwhile. You might choose to cut out one of these activities.

My husband and I did a one-day tour as part of a greater China package. We stayed in very nice accommodation and had an excellent guide and driver (all arranged by China Odyssey). The Panda sanctuary was absolutely amazing - a must for animal-lovers! If you can afford it, you can make a hefty 'donation' to the sanctuary and you are then able to hold a baby panda which is a once in a lifetime experience!! China Odyssey made our short trip in Chengdu very easy and even more memorable! Thanks to Laura (China Odyssey) agent for organizing everything and to our very lovely guide in Chengdu who was very exceptionally kind and helpful!!

Laura from China Odyssey Tours arranged our trip to China, which was complicated because we were meeting people half way through at a specific time and place, and also involved 4 main sections: 2 nights in Chengdu, 3 night Yangtze cruise, 4 nights in Wuhan at our own arrangement, and 5 nights in Beijing. There were a lot of connections to be made with airports, train stations and docks and they all went perfectly. There was not a single hassle or hold-up. All of the guides and drivers were first class.
Our tour guide in Chengdu was Ben, a very caring and knowledgeable person who speaks very good English. The driver was also excellent. Ben took us to the Leshan giant Buddha on the first morning. This monument is up there with the pyramids in Egypt in terms of antiquity and size. Amazing and beautiful. It would be good to have time to wander around the temple there. We then went to JinLi street in Chengdu, where the shops are brilliant and the street food was the best I found in China. I love spicy Sichuan food and each vendor had a plaque naming the dishes in Chinese and English with the price marked. I could have wandered around there for hours.
After that we visited the Wenshu temple and one of the local tea houses. A specialty in the tea houses are the "ear cleaners" or "pickers". Despite some misgivings, I decided to have my ears cleaned. The "ear cleaners" use various instruments and brushes to pick out waxy deposits in your ears and then they use a kind of tuning fork to cause an interesting vibration through your ear canal. It felt great and eased some tinnitus I'd been suffering. Not a practice condoned by conservative western medicine but these guys are really experienced. All of the instruments were sterilised too.
On our second day in Chengdu, we visited the Pandas at the Research Base. The whole set-up is impressive, the enclosures are large and naturalistic, there's lots of information and interpretation, and the pampered pandas are gorgeous.
I should also mention that our accommodation at the Tianfu Sunshine Hotel was excellent. Thanks to Laura and China Odyssey we had a great time in Chengdu.

Kevin, our guide in Chengdu was brilliant. His English was fantastic and he was so helpful and friendly. When we were met at the train station he immediately took my wife’s heavy suitcase from her which was lovely. In the car on the way to the Tibet Hotel he talked us through the itinerary for the next few days and told us lots of interesting facts about Chengdu. He recommended a good restaurant near the hotel to try the local hotpot which we thoroughly enjoyed.
When we got to the Panda Research Base, Kevin ensured we steered clear of the crowds as much as possible and allowed us ample time to take the photos and videos we wanted. At no time did we feel rushed - it was a highlight of our holiday!
I would recommend Odynovo to anyone wanting a hassle free trip to China and would definitely recommend Kevin as a guide at Chengdu.

Once again, Leo Huang from China Odyssey Tours ensured we had a great time. Leo has helped organise trips within China a couple of times before and makes everything so easy. The Old Chengdu Club was a wonderful place to stay, as was the Youth Hostel in Xian near the South Gate. We had 3 different guides in the 3 places, Coco (Li Ke Min) in Shan Hai Guan, Eric in Xian and Cody in Chengdu. Even though I have an elementary level of Chinese it was nice to have helpers and organisers and they were all so pleasant and competent. Noone else in the world understands hospitality like the Chinese... so with a Chinese Tour Company and Chinese guides and drivers you are in safe hands in a safe country. Xian and Chengdu are famous for the Terracotta Warriors and Pandas, but Shan Hai Guan has a number of interesting sections of the Great Wall to visit (especially where the Great Wall joins the sea) Chris

We actually were on an extended tour of China arranged by Femando Chen of Odynovo. We spent 3 days in Chengdu and our guide there was Clark. We are 4 seniors in our mid seventies and Clark saw to it that we saw everything while respecting our age. He was very well informed and just a really kind person. Chendgu city has a lot to offer just out and about around town. We loved the Panda Preserve. It really is as amazing as people say. The Panda antics are a great show to watch. We also went to Mt. Emei which was beautiful and being in the mountains offered a completely different type of scenery. Thank you Clark and Femando. We loved our stay in and around Chengdu.

An excellent trip visiting the Panda Bears which are in a lovely compound with lots of room for them to do what they like. They are so well treated & looked after especially at birth where they even have a humidicrib if necessary. All this was arranged by Reinself Wei at Odynovo Tours who do an excellent job in arranging a very good guide in Jack Zheng & left nothing to be desired. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone wishing to travel to China

The giant and red pandas were so much fun to watch. It is definitely worth the effort to get there early in the morning when they are the most active. Our tour guide, Ashley Fan, then took us to Jinli Old Street and the River Viewing Tower Park where we spent a relaxing afternoon having traditional Chinese tea, eating sunflower seeds and absorbing the special atmosphere. They have trained people that go around offering ear cleaning services! Ashley was a delight, fun to spend time with, a great guide and speaks excellent English. The Sanxingdui Museum was very impressive with some relics 5,000 (+) years old. It is NOT full of what I would call traditional Chinese artifacts. These relics raise many questions. Some of the bronzes reminded me of the Aztec styles. The grounds were beautiful, and tranquil, away from the masses of people in the city. It would be a nice place to have a pic nic lunch. Thank you Reinself Wei with Odynovo Tours for organizing such a fun and interesting time in the Chengdu area.

We recently visited Chengdu as part of our trip to China and had a fabulous time with a fantastic guide named Clark.
To see the Pandas up so close was great as they are so cute and we were lucky enough to see 5 baby Pandas. The Buddha was remarkable and well worth the clime down and back up again. Chengdu is well worth a visit.
Our guide Clark was outstanding and excellent at his job.
