I can't begin to thank both Taylor and Tom enough for what turned out to be the best days of my tour of China. Right from the beginning Taylor did everything possible to accommodate this single-traveler's needs, from adjusting the cooking class to meet my preferences to making sure I would be able to experience what turned out to be one of the best dinners of my life. And Tom is so knowledgable, and so entertaining. What a great guide to all the best that Chengdu has to offer. Outstanding service, and an all-around exceptional experience.

Had a great experience with Lotus Culinary Travel. They were very accommodating with what we were looking for and didn't let us down! We visited pandas, went to the chili bean factory, a farmers market, an ancient town and stopped on the road for some of the best noodles we had while in Chendgdu. Definitely worth using them if you are in the area!

AMAZING experience in Chengdu, thanks to Lotus Culinary. Tom, our trusty guide, absolutely made our tour of Chengdu one we will treasure for years to come. From a thorough cooking class where we learned to properly wield a cleaver to visiting the the beloved pandas of the region, then to wet markets and sampling truly authentic foods along the way, all made for a wonderful time. Tom was able to intuit what types of things we were interested in on the fly and provided side notes and stories that enriched our understanding of Chengdu’s culture and more specifically how important food, seasonality and freshness is to the people of the province. Also, his sense of humor and intellect were very much appreciated.

Lotus made visiting Chengdu the highlight of our trip to China. They organized everything for us, and their private guides made the entire city and region accessible in a way that would never have been possible as English-speaking travelers. The food experiences were incredibly diverse and still count among our most memorable meals ever. Chengdu is a lovely, chill city where leisure and the arts play a major role and we felt that we got an inside view.

Hello folks, I just returned from a 5 nights six day visit to Chengdu planned and executed by Lotus Culinary Travels (April 2014). The service was excellent starting from the inquiry/booking process to departure. You will be very hard pressed to find a more personal and caring service anywhere, and to top it off the price was very reasonable as well. (go ahead and shoot an inquiry and see what happens). We brought our small child with us on the trip and there were no issues. Rose and Tom were very accommodating, genuine and proud hosts. They suggested many things we could do some of which we had to turn down because of the small child and also because I arrived here from US via Dubai so the travels kind of caught up with me. Chengdu is a phenomenal city period, but more so if you are a foodie. I have been to Shanghai, Haerbin, Hong Kong and Guangzhou and I find the food here to be the most appealing, aromatic and exotic (start your protests now Cantonese fans). They are cooking at a whole different level here, and I would attribute it to the fact that the city was repopulated from many different provinces within China (Something I learned this trip. Thanks, Tom!). We went to the spice market, farmer's market, cooking class, Panda Research Base, and many others and finished the trip at Yu Bo's restaurant. This restaurant, I dare say, is only a tweak or two away from a Michelin star. If Tim Ho Wan can get a star, Yu Bo should too. In the end, here you have a phenomenal city and you need these fantastic tour guides. You need these two parts to really get the full effect, in my opinion. You can follow the exact itinerary we did and won't get the same satisfaction without their service. You will understand this after you take the trip. You will not regret it. Enjoy!
