An amazing two days in Chengdu with Jay. Day one, we covered the Panda breeding centre, tried some delicious Sichuan food specialities, took part in a tea ceremony, visited local markets and had a cooking class. Day two was a trip to Leshan and the incredible Giant Buddha followed by some yummy Leshan food. Highly recommended.

This was a great experience and my guide Daisy was incredible. She not only informed me all about the pandas, but chinese culture and took me to a temple afterwards at no extra cost. I was a lone traveller and they had arranged for the guide to be female to ensure I felt comfortable.

I recently returned from China, and during my trip, I visited Chengdu. I booked this tour to see pandas, and I believe that this tour is the closest way to see pandas in the wild even though they are in enclosures. Jay, my guide, took me to the Wolong Panda Conservation and Research Center. Although it was a bit of a haul to get there from Chengdu, there were few tourists and you can see the mountains in which the research scientists working at the Center release the pandas to live on their own once they are ready to live on their own. Jay was kind enough to take me on a small road at the Center up a mountain to get a panorama of the valley and to show me where the pandas go once they are released. Although "holding" the pandas is a bit of a misnomer (you don't actually hold the pandas, but are permitted to sit next to a baby panda for 20 seconds on a wooden swing and have your photograph taken), I believe that it is definitely worth the extra fee you must pay (around 800 RMB). The staff is very strict about the 20 second rule as they are concerned that the panda could try to scratch or bite when they finish eating their bamboo. If you plan to visit Chengdu, definitely consider this tour.

Jay was our guide for a 5-day tour of Chengdu and Dujiangyan last month.
We booked Jay's services well in advance and emailed back and forth a few times while planning our trip.
Jay was helpful and co-operative from these first steps and during the trip itself was well prepared, insightful and very knowledgable. His English is great, too.
Jay also went the extra mile by helping us plan a last minute surprise for our daughter's birthday, which took place during our time together - he contacted the hotel we stayed in (upon his recommendation - the Panda Hotel in Dujiangyan, which was very nice) and they decorated our room and left a cake and a small gift. Really made her day (or more).
We'll be happy to use Jay's services again in the future and highly recommend him.

My husband and I recently visited Chengdu, China and were treated to 2 great days with our guide Jay Liao. Jay and his driver Mr. Wang were courteous and professional. We started the activities by visiting the Panda breeding preserve in Chengdu, then had a very good lunch at a local eatery. After a brief afternoon rest Jay toured us through people's park and then a a performance of a Sichuan Opera. Jay took us to Leshan the next day to see the Giant Buddah and toured us throu temples and many of Chengdu's neighborhoods concluding with a "hot pot" dinner. Jay's knowledge of the area and his joy in sharing his home town with us was delightful. I am truly happy to recommend Jay.

Hired Jay on 2 separate days for the leg of our trip in China, was the BEST decision ever. I highly recommend him if you are travelling to Chengdu and would like to hit the main destinations there. Jay knows the details that you and I won't even think about... like different entrances of an attraction to avoid crowds and save you time and headache. Or the recommended restaurants he would take you to that serves the most authentic dishes in the Sichuan province.

Jay and his driver are very polite and patient. They accommodate your requests as well as providing suggestions. There is no up sell, no pushy sales tactics or anything you do not want to do. His punctuality is second to none, the first day we met him at our hostel in Chengdu's city centre, he actually stayed in the same hostel as us, so he could miss traffic in the morning so that he would be on time, 8am on the dot. Very, very knowledgeable of Chengdu; history, culture and background.

On our 2 days with him, he took us to the panda centre. He booked the panda experience several days in advance since the park capped the amount of people to reserve a spot. The pandas were cute and cuddly, definitely a perfect experience that I happily crossed of my bucket list. He talked about the different panda centers in China, showed us the must see areas of the park and he can almost time when tour groups invaded a certain area so he can move us on to an area that's less crowded. He and his driver dropped us off at the airport for no extra charge.

Day 2 consisted of Leshan... very lucky he knew the best kept secret to enter the park. It was jammed pack in the main entrance. We entered through an ancient fishing village with restaurants and shops that gave us many things to see. Since it was a Saturday, the park was suitedly full of people. Leshan had many temples and statues to see but of course the famed Big Buddah was the main attraction... we did not heed his warning to go down to the bottom of the big buddah and boy was that a mistake... 1.5 hours of crushing mass of bodies later we were at the bottom, he recommended we take the boat for next time.. and I noticed from other reviews that he did just that, I would highly recommended the boat as well. After Leshan, Jay took us to a nice restaurant and served up some good spicy dishes. The remainder of the day was capped off with strawberry picking and a trip to Luodai Ancient Town.

A very memorable trip in the book and thanks to Jay for putting everything together. Jay would love to show you his city and provide you an amazing time here.

Travelled in May, excellent weather. Picked up from hotel by Jay who had texted the night before to confirm the arrangements. Jay is a great guide, speaks excellent fluent English, friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area and Pandas. Small group (3 total). Smooth, comfortable journey to Dujiangyan in a spacious mini-van to the Panda center. Panda center is well run. Pandas are very well cared for, live in a spacious, quiet and natural looking environment. They are treated with great respect.
Holding the Panda was expensive and brief but unforgettable. The panda's welfare is the prime concern of the center and this is reminded to all who are privileged to hold a panda. Afterward, Jay took us for a delicious local lunch. Then to Jiezi ancient town which was atmospheric and beautiful. Then back to our hotels. A great experience. Thank you Jay! You are a great guide.

We had a fabulous panda experience with Jay. We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the Wolong Panda Reserve at the end of the Himaylan Mountains. Once there, we were given work overalls and went to clean out the garden and indoor enclosure of one of the pandas. The work was not hard and panda poo has no smell. Once we were done there, we toured around the reserve and then went to feed another panda his morning snack of carrots and "panda bread". We were then taken to the panda nursery (the public is not allowed in this area) for our panda holding. This was just magical - to be so close to a baby panda that you can feel how furry and fuzzy they are. A simple lunch with the rest of the workers was followed by watching a documentary on the panda and the work of the biologists trying to save it from extinction. After feeding the afternoon snack to the panda whose enclosure we had cleaned, it was back to Chengdu.

Jay really made this day special. He clearly has a great relationship with the people at the reserve and we were able to do several activities that made our time with the pandas something I will always remember.
