Interesting piece of history
Jan 2018 • Couples
The north of Chengdu is often ignored or maligned as the " poor part" of the city but personally I find it the most interesting. Local
neighborhoods a refreshing lack of shiny shopping malls and here we have some real history. Originally built during the Tang dynasty, destroyed during the Ming, rebuilt during the Qing, and partially destroyed again during the cultural revolution this now restored and fully functional temple is a joy to discover. Free entry, vegetarian restaurant, interesting architecture and peaceful gardens. Well worth seeking out. A short cycle ride from the new line 7 and very close to the zoo.

Large and interesting temple complex
Apr 2017
With the opening of Line 3 of the Chengdu Metro, this temple can be relatively easily accessed from the Chengdu Zoo stop. It's a large and peaceful complex. I didn't see any other Western tourists about, but it's certainly not unknown to local tourists. If you've having temple fatigue, it's perhaps not worth a trip out here, but it's definitely worth time if you have it.

Might be the biggest temple in Chengdu. so if you are a Buddhist, it will be a good place to go. but it's a little bit far away from downtown.

Zhaojue Temple of Chengdu
Oct 2011 • Solo
It was not far from the city center and there was a Zhaojuesi Bus Station and a zoo near the Temple. It was 2011 I visited the temple. It took me around half an hour by public bus. Can't remember the entrance fee, but it was not expensive. Great and temples and statues and of course, lots of burning candles and incense. There is also a big Tibetan Stupa with prayer flags hanging around. It is not very big, two hours maximum, but a very typical Chinese Buddhists' Temple. If one has plenty time in the city, it worth a visit. There was a zoo connected to the Temple. Zoo entrance fee was 5 yuan when I was a kid in the 1990s and now it costs 16 yuan or something.
