A place to walk around and relax, looking at the locals in their elements. Either playing chess, dancing to music , writing calligraphy or helping young souls find their soul mate. It’s surely a site to see when visiting chengdu .

Spring Flowers Exhibition is a yearly flowers exhibition in Chengdu. Colourful plants are seen in different areas in the park.
There is a lake in the park with good scenery and a photo spot.
A famous Taoist monastery is also located in the corner of the park.
A square with statues depicting twelve heroes died during civil war.
Just outside the east gate of the park there is a shopping street .

Locally known as People's Park better known as Renmin Park located in the centre of Chengdu Qinyang District Chengdu in the Sichuan District known also as Shaocheng Park in existence since 1911 the first park measures 112639 square metres 1,212,440 square feet. There are very many delights to enjoy around and about such as the 100 year old Heming Tea House Qing Dynasty in the middle of the koi filled artificial lake where you can order an authentic green tea and even get your ears cleaned from wax. In very many different areas exist small gardens where there is singing dancing musical
instruments playing people playing cards Mahjong Tai Chi practice even an over 30's lonely hearts club where the youth display handwritten papers listing their abilities and
preferences a sort of Blind Date. For the more energetic in and around Memorial Square is the brilliant hand foot elbow knee shuttlecock game which is good for keep fit agile
and out of mischief. The Monument was built 1913 - 1914 in memory to the Martyrs of
the Railway and marks the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty and the establishment of the People's Republic of China. In 1950 the new Communist Party renamed the Park People's Park and reopened it in 1952. There is also a monument to the Sichuan Army Martyrs of War of Resistance against Japan and also a small museum. If you are a horticultural fanatic it is brilliant for lotus in the Summer and Chrysanthemums in the Autumn which we were lucky enough to see in all their splendid colours and varying shapes and sizes. There is also a bonsai garden. This actually is not considered to be a tourist attraction site but I was extremely happy to visit as this is more an insight into
local daily life where culture and entertainment merge.

What an absolute delight to visit this park after a long day of commuting to Chengdu. Walking into the park, one can hear music playing as the local people congregate to sing and dance together. As you walk through the park, you'll come across groups of locals performing together, watched on by other local people. No money is required to watch as enjoyment is the fee.
You will also see local women playing match-maker for their children. Tge profiles are hung on the fences to pursual and the women sit together and discuss making arrangements.
There are also tea houses, full of the locals playing cards and games and catching up over tea, which is delightful.
It truly is a sanctuary from the city as well as being a vibrant community center.
Well worth a visit!

I was looking for places to visit and while pinning this on my map I noticed that I have already been here. It's better known (on maps and signs in China) as 'people's park' and is close to Tianfu Square. It's a nice walk around. it wasn't "the best I've ever seen in my life", but it was a very nice park :)

This was one of the most beautiful parks I visited, it gives you a good sense of the culture in Changdu, the park itself is beautiful and while walking around you will see many locals enjoying the park, women get together here to dance and practice Tia chi, while the men can be found playing mahjong and enjoying some tea. We went for some traditional tea in the tea room where I also had my palm read by a local. I was lucky enough to have a native with me to translate this, and boy was he good! Lovely park full of lovely people!

We visited the lovely Chengdu Culture Park with our guide Daisy, from China Highlights. Daisy took us to a tea house and taught us how to play Mahjong. I was traveling with my teenage boys and believe it or not this was one of the highlights of their trip! Daisy made the experience feel like we were hanging out with friends instead of being on tour. Very cool.

We visited Qingyang Palace and noticed this park next door and decided to check it out. We had a busy schedule of sightseeing and didn’t know this place existed and didn’t want to take away too much time for our other places of things to do but we decided to check it out. It was a very large park and had excellent restrooms, even some snack foods and games. There was a small amusement park and the kids looked very happy. If you are sightseeing historical places in Chengdu and have kids, be sure to bring them here as they will enjoy it.
