One of the best museums I have visited. Each floor covers a period in history for Chengdu, it does not overwhelm you with too many artefacts or info. Enough English to understand what is what, with short films, displays, maps, models of villages and life...More

Free admission (take your passport) and not crowded at all. There wasn’t a queue when I went either. Great to spend a few hours here. You can learn a lot about Chengdu’s history as there is enough English explanation around. The museum is pretty large...More

The museum provides an illustrated past of Chengdu over a few thousand years. The exhibits are well presented with clear narrations. Very impressive and free entry for all to appreciate.

This museum does an amazing job of explaining local history. The artifacts are fascinating. Historical timelines are well described and illustrated with artifacts and writings.

The floor about shadow puppetry is simple fantastic. The 4th flloor showcases the daily life in Chengdu of times gone by. The teahouse culture of the city has a wonderful display too.

Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in Chengdu. When we visited, the museum had a special exhibition of ancient artefacts from Afghanistan on display on the first floor. From the second floor up the displays take you through Chengdu's history across multiple Chinese...More

Great museum with interesting exhibits. I learned a lot about the history of Chengdu, and the puppet exhibit on the top floor is not to be missed. I found it interesting that, unless we totally missed a section, the historical overview exhibits went up to...More
