A well-curated museum which gives you a good insight into Chengdu's history and definitely worth a visit - and it's free! The artefacts and displays from the earlier dynasties (when Chengdu was at its zenith) are wonderful. English translation is just about adequate but it's shortage doesn't detract from the experience. The museum is conveniently laid out on five floors in a building slightly reminiscent of the Beijing CCTV underpants. There is a small cafe on the top floor with a view over Tianfu Square

The Chengdu Museum was just a terrific respite in the midst of a rainstorm. The museum was very informative of ancient Chengdu, artifacts, and other periods of history in the area. The coffee shop after walking the various floors was also a good place to sit and talk with our guide.

The Chengdu Museum new building in downtown Chengdu is a must see if you're visiting the city. Its a superb new v building that very well planned ad comfortable ad the exhibits are amazing covering everything from history to works of art. The museum covers 5 floors, and its easily navigated. Its very popular with local, but foreigners get easy access but you need to get a ticket and then join the queue for those with appointments. There is no admission charge and its worth the wait to queue, as when you get inside, it really is a brilliant array of exhibits and great for kids too. It's a full day out, and the museum is easily accessed by metro, buses or taxi. Its truly a must see in Chengdu

The Chengdu Museum is more than just an immense building adjoining Tianfu Square; it's also the best place to start your exploration of the Sichuan province. It gives you a great base understanding of the ancient history of urban culture in the region which sets the stage/provides context for everything else you'll encounter within Chengdu and the surrounding regions. Particularly if you're here for Chinese culture and not just to skip off to Tibet, this is where you should start.

I loved this Museum. It is well designed, and it has a lot of architectural explanations, and historical details. I even liked the gift shops. Our kids, who are usually not keen on visiting Museums, liked it too.

The exhibitions that were on display in Sep-18 wasn't that exciting, too many dolls, too little attention the detail and the story-line in the individual exhibitions wasn't that well done. A few places they tried to incorporate some technology features, but in honesty, it felt more like they had to install them than wanted to.

There is a nice quiet cafe on the 6th floor with a good view of the square.

This was one of the nicer Museums I have been to in China and it has a little restaurant inside where I could get a good cup of coffee. I enjoyed the visit and there are a lot of displays for history buffs or curious people.

The new building itself is a piece of modern art! All displays across five floors are well organized and displayed. The puppets exhibition on the top floor is particularly interesting and don’t miss it if you are in the neighborhood.

Wind your way up the various floors depicting different time periods of Chengdu. There are many artifacts all labelled in English and Chinese. This museum is a must if you have an interest in history. It was close to our hotel so I took my two girls 6yr and 11yr on a whistle stop tour starting at 6pm (closes admittance at 7pm). We did not linger but the kids enjoyed their time. The third floor History and Culture exhibit was one of our favourites. In the basement is the largest collection of taxidermy I have ever seen. A huge display of animals from around the world. The collection was apparently gifted to the museum.
