Don't miss the REAL market
Apr 2019
Most people go to this area for the market stalls and the food on a stick stalls and to look at the murals on the walls. Interesting for some maybe but I am off the opinion once you have seen yet another market stall and morsels of meat on a stick you've seen them all. What is it with young Chinese people, they have an insatiable appetite for this crap on a stick, it's everywhere. For reference, my wife is Chinese and she hates this stuff. Anyhow, if you enjoy looking at REAL markets with quality produce look for the big steel bridge, it is located slightly away from the popular market area and has eight sets of stairs so you should be able to find it. (find Mc Donalds and walk to the main road and you'll see the bridge which crosses this main road) Cross the bridge and walk along a short distance and make sure you look into the shops on the right as the market is accessed through these shops and for food lovers this is a beautiful place to visit. I am from Adelaide, Australia and we have a famous market but the one in Qingdao (which is twinned with Adelaide) surpasses our market. If I lived in Qingdao I would go to this market every day as the selection of fresh food is second to none, I was salivating when I was there and frustrated as I was staying in a hotel and unable to purchase food to cook. For further reference, Qingdao TaiDong is just a short walk from Beer Street and the Tsingtao Brewery, just turn left when you leave the brewery museum and walk down the road. In fact if you stay on this road you will arrive at the aforementioned steel bridge.

Busy but colorful
Sep 2019
I believe we were brought here by our tour guide to spend a couple of hours here and for us to look for dinner. It's a busy place but it was big and wide enough that it didn't feel crowded. We walked the whole length, found a restaurant for dinner, and then did some shopping (cell phone accessories). I enjoyed looking at the murals on the buildings. Nice way to end the day.

The Colorful Street

This shopping/eating street is alive with color and wonderful smells of the local food. Every building is covered in murals. It is a must see and experience. I had to visit more than once because it was so enjoyable.

Shopping Streets in Qingdao TaiDong
Mar 2018 • Solo
Many shopping streets with various choices, cheap glasses, shoes, clothes, watches, fabric, toys, accessories.......you can bargain. When hungry you find many choices for food. Big and small shops, pedestrian shopping streets and many shops located along normal roads. Very difficult to park, best choice to take a bus. Nowadays it is bit less crowded due to internet shopping but if you really like to negotiate, it is your place

Take a walk to this pedestrian is a must when you visit Qingdao. You can find from cheap to expensive food and stuff especially attire here. It is suggested to come at night to experience the different local Chinese delicacies from different provinces of China
