Wonderful sounding church!
May 2019 • Friends
The acoustics in the church are marvelous! I sang “Hallelujah” and it reverberated all through the church, and another person joined in, which made it even more special. The bell tower was nice, with the bell ringing mechanism still working. An added bonus was the wonderful wedding clothes worn by those taking wedding photos outside the church.

The Protestant Church
Oct 2018 • Friends
An entrance fee is charged to walk into the grounds of the church. No people are around to tell you any information. It is unclear whether any worship services occur and no one answers messages left or emails sent. It is unspectactular architectually.

Nice place for photo-op

Just be warned that someone will tap you on the shoulder to let you know that taking pictures INSIDE the church is a no-no. It's ok upstairs by the bell-mechanism though.

Unique Cultural Attraction
Jun 2018 • Couples
Qingdao is special among Chinese cities due in large part to its 19th- and 20th-century history. The city, whose name was formerly anglicized as Tsingtao, was a concession port to the Empire of Germany. It is well known for its Tsingtao beer and its lovely architecture. German colonial architecture is a bit rarer in the world compared to that of the Spanish, British, Portuguese, and French empires. All the more reason to cherish this elegant little church. This is a site of fascination primarily for its architectural and historical appeal, and might not be of much interest to the young.

There were many weddings going on. We went up the tower to see the bells, and enjoyed visiting the church.

Quaint Church Building
Sep 2017 • Friends
I enjoyed my second visit to this Church building in 2 years. They were in the middle of a wedding service, so that was also interesting. The bell tower is intriguing with all the working parts of the clock visible behind glass. Extraordinary German workmanship. The building is starting to need some maintenance.

On a cloudy October day I walked on Jiangsu Lu and clearly saw the Jidu/Protestant Church alongside with the Catholic/Tianzhu Church! Overall, it was very nice to be there and take photos at the church. I really liked the clock on the building, reminds me of railway stations in Russia and Ukraine!
