This is a street with a spring-fed, winding waterway, was first built more than 1,500 years ago. The Fuxue Confucian Temple and the Hundred Flower Pond are along its route. In the area, there is a great photo op beside the 3D, life-like painting of a horse and some of the ancient buildings.

The street is a small alley, starting with many shop carts near the entrance. Along the way, the many ancient houses were converted to tea houses, shops selling souvenir, handicraft etc. While it was enjoyable to walk along the alley, it has become too commercialised. Nevertheless, still worthwhile to drop by when visiting Daming Lake. Half an hour is sufficient.

It was nice to walk around the area early in the morning where a lot of local residents were there to start their day. Washing clothes, eating street foods, exercising. The houses along the small canal were old style and has got a lot of good atmosphere. The ally reaches to Daminghu (Da Ming Lake) so this mini trip should be combined together with a visit to Daming Lake.

Had a wonderful time here walking around, getting some photos and taking in all the mood of the city.

This is such a nice area!! It is located between the big lake and the old food street. Theres a small canal with tea shops on both sides, perfect for a rest and people watching. This is my most favourite part in Jinan.

Part of the street was closed for upgrading and I did not manage to see much of the street. It could be pretty if properly maintained but the willow trees lining the stream was not well kept so it just look sad and untidy. Shops were not opened probably too cold in winter and I felt it was a wasted trip here to Jinan for me.

We incidentally entered this alley after we seeing Dating Lake. However it turned out to be a big surprise. The street was very quiet in the evening and gave you a chance to have a taste on old Jinan. Thoroughly enjoyed

Go more for the people watching than the food. If you eat here plan on being close to some Chinese stomach medicine later (namely 藿香正气水)

Cross the road from one of the main exits from Da Ming lake and you pass a large pond and come to this street with a small canal in the middle and a few basic restaurants on this street and the one's off it.

It is one of the older and more attractive parts of the city. If you turn right onto Lulu Bazi Street pass little restaurants with some outside tables and lots of beer drinking and follow the bends round until it straightens out into Donghua Qiangzi Street you will come across a little restaurant with tables and chairs underneath a big tree. This is a very basic wee place with very small tables and kindergarten chairs on the street. They have a barbecue grill and beer containers on the other side of the street. They know us by now and we they know that we always have two pints of tasty draught beer for the incredible price of 2 and a half Yuan each. It is great to sit outside there and watch people go by on what is largely a pedestrian street. They remembered us after we ahd been away for 11 months.
