Historical Timeless Beauty
Nov 2019
Thousand Buddha Cliff statues were carved during the Sui Dynasty (581-618 AD) and the ancient buildings are beautiful.

Lots of shade, nice walk
Sep 2019
My son (age 8) and I got to the entrance around 9:15am and started nice and early while it was still a little cooler. We went in early September and it was bloody hot and humid.

We went to the temple at the top and enjoyed the view. There are little stands along the walk to purchase cold liquids. After the temple, we went to the caves, but the caves were closed! I was disappointed becasue I really wanted to see the caves. We did not hike to the golden buddha because my son was struggling with the heat after the steep hike to the temple. There are LOTS of steeps to climb. We spent about about 3.5 hours on the grounds exploring and had a great time looking at the various poses of the buddhas.

There is lots of shade coverage throughout the hike.

Huge park
Jun 2019 • Friends
Buddha's, Buddha's everywhere! Yes the clue is in the name. Thousand Buddha park is so nice. There are numerous walks and paths throughout the park - some taking you to the top of the hill, others meandering through the trees and areas at the bottom of the hill. There's a cable car ride too, which takes you up the hill and a slide to bring you back down. It would have been spectacular to see in the evening, with the city lights on, however, I was told it closes at 5pm. I was planning to revisit this park during my stay, but sadly ran out of time.

Buddha's, Buddha's everywhere
Apr 2019 • Solo
A short hike or taxi/ bus ride from the city centre away is 1000 Buddha cliff mountain. It's a nice park with literary thousands of Buddha's. There is also a Buddha cave with even more Buddha's, it's a spectacle to behold. The cave is pretty deep and Buddha's and boddhavista's cover almost every square inch. Although a lot of them are damaged it's still a must see in my book. There is also a temple, a martyrs site and a very big statue of Budai, who we in the West usually think of as Buddha, but isn't (the fat Buddha). Jinan is an underappreciated city, that is worth a day to go see. Skip Qufu and go here. People are friendly and although I didn't see it the museum is supposedly also very nice.

Huge Park with Interesting Stone Statues
Sep 2018 • Friends
I visited this park early September with a friend of mine. Since the park is huge, we did not visit all of it and only decided to visit the large Buddha statue which is shown in the photos.

The atmosphere inside the park is nice and you may see some Chinese who practice Tai Chi here and there.

Considering the steep sidewalks with stone pavements I recommend to wear comfortable shoes for a long walk.

More Fun Than I Expected!

This park is huge! And has a wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed getting lost in the streets at the bottom of the mountain that was more like a Forrest. Afterwards we went up the cable car and were not disappointed with the ancient temples and views from the top. To get down we took a massive slide, it was a blast with the kids.

Wear good shoes the mountain stairs are quite slick.

The stone carvings inside the cave are interesting...

Multiple stone carving within and sadly, many had been defaces during the "Cultural Revolution".
A friend paid for the newly-wed couple to bang the large gong 3 times; 1 for good fortune, 1 for good health and the third for long life. Very cool sound!

Great mountain, and it really is a mountain. You could spend hours walking up and down and visiting the numerous temples.
Each temple is for a different Buddah... Not being from the religion, I cannot go into more details, but It really is a must see in Jinan
