I am the son of the owner of this account. We went on a school trip to china. For one of our free days we went to Jinan Zoo. This was one of the most depressing places I have ever been to. The animals seemed sad, trapped in their tiny, dirty enclosures. The pandas were alone in a bare concrete room... no grass or anything much. The bears were in a hole being teased by people. I could go on and on but I have no time because there is too much. I DO NOT recommend going unless you want to see muscle less tigers and lions. 1/10

So So disappointed this is the dirtiest and saddest Zoo I have ever seen ... out of the way so a long taxi ride to be depressed ... sad and dirty enclosures, depressed looking animals , in confined spaces with no company many single animals pacing up and down in this concrete jungle ... sad sad sad ... cheap and painful experience ... Don't Go ...

My Wife and I visited in early October on a weekend and found the park reasonably well laid out with a good range of animals. Particularly noteworthy for us the Pandas and the Tigers. Some of the enclosures struck us as a little claustrophobic for the animals and, despite being housed in an adequate enclosure the bears were constantly fed rubbish by the visitors so much so they had learnt a few begging tricks. The one thing we didnt like was the fact there were numerous vendors selling loud trumpets ( vuvusella ) and the small kids delighted in blowing them in close proximity to the animals turning the park into somewhat of a mad house. The other thing I would advise forgien visitors about is the fact there are very few foreigners in Jinan and you will be seen as somewhat of a novelty, having lived there for some time I was used to it, my Wife was not and, if visiting be prepared to have as much attention and picture taking as some of the animals. A polite no was understood when the situation arose. In all by no means the worst zoo I have visited and, at around 2.50 GBP 3 Euro 4 Bucks to enter it was very good value for money and well worth the visit just be prepared for large crowds at weekends and holidays.

It started to rain almost as soon as we arrived. I thought the animals would all be inside. We found the monkeys climbing in the trees and bears wondering in the trees. The Panda bear was eating bamboo and another was fed ginger and carrots. The elephants were wandering in a small cage and the lions and tigers were in their spot ready to pose. The fee was $4 each but their are other exhibits that charge. The trolly is $3.25. All signs are in Chinese. I do have photos but they are not available at this time. TIP When visiting China, There are two kinds of bathrooms: American in your hotel and 'Squat' ones anywhere else. Learn to hold it!

Is really a pity watching some wonderful animals mainly felines, in almost 3rd class circus conditions, anyway around the city is the closest place you would be able to watch some Pandas that with some few other animals are the only ones really taken care of...
