Are you looking for some goods for home? Just go there. You should try the underground market. If you looking for some sport cloth, just go to the sports city at the Nanjing road. You will find factory outlets from major sports equipment companies.

So many shops, so little time :)...great fun as well, many bargains to be had and you will not leave there without buying something trust me! I bought new reading glasses (prescription) in one shop and they are much better than UK standard...basically you can get anything here.

If you only have 1 night to go shopping, Tai Yuan Jie is the place! It is cheaper than Zhong Jie (although Zhong jie is bigger) an you can get all sorts of things. IF you big abit more pieces, you can bargain a little with the staff there, unlike Zhong Jie. This place is value for money, but if you are looking for branded, there this place is not for you. It is more a street fashion, trendy and hip place, not the fancy big brands like LV, Prada, Hermes etc.

We've been to Taiyuan several times and it if you're in the mood for noise and high energy, it can be fun. Shops range from cheap to high-end. Go into the nice malls for air-conditioned quiet and high quality goods. Descend into the underground shops for less expensive goods. Both are fun to experience. You can find everything from fashion to food to housewares, you name it. We have purchased slippers in one of the mall shops and coffee beans at Pacific Coffee in one of the malls. Be ready for competing loud speakers with shouting and music as you walk down the pedestrian way. The subway entrance takes you up right onto the street, so it is very easy to access. If you're a tourist, you probably want to visit Taiyuan just to experience the bustle of a Chinese shopping district. You'll leave with bags of stuff!

Nothing too exciting. Just the run of the mill shopping area. Numerous malls with overpriced stores.
-If you are in desperate need of clothing or misc items then come here to buy.
-There is a movie cinema here that does have 'popular' current movies in english.
-Many places to eat.
-One cool thing 'must see' is the under ground shopping area. Quite interesting, i will leave this one for a mystery.

There are so many shops and restaurants to choose from. Lots of bargains to be had. I enjoyed a few outside shows with magic tricks, singing and dancing. Also good place for people watching and meeting new friends.
