We came to the the large city-center park for relaxing, unhurried photo taking against the parks varied natural backdrops. It is a clean well-maintained park.

So first off if you have really young kids and need to use a buggy/pushchair or if you need wheelchair access forget it. Dalian isn't very access friendly in general, with lots of steps and extremely high curbs. Parking nearby if a bit of a nightmare, just a couple of store fronts or under the nearby bridge/flyover. Expect to pay around 20rmb. All in all a decent park and it's free! The majority is however, inaccessible with wheelchair or buggy. It's a favorite haunt of the elderly and they can be seen doing really weird stuff. Hitting trees, running backwards, shouting at bodies of water etc. Even saw one lady singing karaoke in a tree and another dangling from a branch. It's a lot like a scene from "one flew over the cuckoo's nest". Well worth the trip for people watchers. There is also a small amusement park that looks like something from the ruins of Pripyat. It was thankfully closed for the winter but expect to pay 20rmb a ride and be sure to be up to date on tetnus shots. Worth a look if you're staying in dalian for some time, but don't bother if you're just visiting, they're are better things to see and do.
