We came to the the large city-center park for relaxing, unhurried photo taking against the parks varied natural backdrops. It is a clean well-maintained park.

If you want to feel downtown local culture, visit this place. From orchestral Peking like operas, big group chorals, playing Chinese chess / poker, and dancing old folks; this place will make you feel that in Dalian they find simple things as their most prized leisure.

Love this place. Every season provides something new and exciting. During the winter months, they have a snow village with various snow activities. During the spring months, flowers are out for your view (love the rose garden). During the summer months, the amusement park is open for enjoyment (go down the toboggan if you can). During the fall months, the trees are changing their colors. The Ginko trees are so beautifully golden.

Large and serene park, in the center of town, grab moments of quite and peacefulness . It includes an amusement park, statues and merry go rounds so also good for families as well as couples. Chair lift was a bit scary going over the road but a lot of fun, once you get to the top get an amazing view of the city from the tower (though when I visited on Sat it was closed, not sure why). Take the bobsled going down - great fun!
Signs in English are scattered all around the park, best if you enter from the northern gate and walk up to the major attractions, entrance was free - I visited in Dec, perhaps they charge in the more populated season -Summer.

I am living in Dalian so I have been into the park many times. Normally you do not have to pay but if you do it will only be either 10 or 20 yuan. The lantern festival in the park for Chinese New Year was very good. It is a great place in the summer to watch the locals who gather to dance, sing and exercise.
At the top if the park near the giant football is a chair lift to the top of the park where there is an excellent view of Dalian. There is also the TV tower which you can go up for an extra fee and has a cafe. You can then take a long fun toboggan ride down to the main part of the park.

So first off if you have really young kids and need to use a buggy/pushchair or if you need wheelchair access forget it.
Dalian isn't very access friendly in general, with lots of steps and extremely high curbs.
Parking nearby if a bit of a nightmare, just a couple of store fronts or under the nearby bridge/flyover. Expect to pay around 20rmb.
All in all a decent park and it's free!
The majority is however, inaccessible with wheelchair or buggy.
It's a favorite haunt of the elderly and they can be seen doing really weird stuff. Hitting trees, running backwards, shouting at bodies of water etc. Even saw one lady singing karaoke in a tree and another dangling from a branch. It's a lot like a scene from "one flew over the cuckoo's nest". Well worth the trip for people watchers.
There is also a small amusement park that looks like something from the ruins of Pripyat. It was thankfully closed for the winter but expect to pay 20rmb a ride and be sure to be up to date on tetnus shots.
Worth a look if you're staying in dalian for some time, but don't bother if you're just visiting, they're are better things to see and do.

I used to live several years just in front of that park and I still really enjoy to spend some time there, for a walk or just to chill on the grass. The park may look a little sad during winter but if you had the chance to visit it when it is flowering you already know that it is pretty amazing; colors everywhere with a nice perfume. If I remember well, there is a cover price during this period (pretty cheap though, like 10 rmb, around 1.5€) the rest of the year the entrance is free. Probably my favorite park in Dalian. They recently retrofit the water part, I still haven't seen the result and I am not even sure it is finished yet. The park is near parkland which is a big commercial center with a lot of malls (Dashang, Pavilion) and not far from the old train station with many hotels and accommodations around.

This place are the opposite of the one of the Dalian Tower which had a big restaurant, we just park our car nearby and see this park, it's nice to have a lot of plants, a lot of outdoor activity for family to enjoy the release stress.

I would love to say wonderful things about this park but sadly I can't. I just went to the park a few days ago and it was quite bad. As soon as you walk in there was construction. There was not even a path in which to walk across the molds of dirt. In addtion, to this once you get into the park there is not much to do, and very few places to sit.
Finally went I was there, they had people singing inside an ex-animal enclosure. I swear that it had been an ex-habitat for otters or some other sea creature because it had 2 swimming pools (empty) and the house for them behind it. (see picture). Also the singing was really really bad!

Went to visit the park in May. Absolutely beautiful when spring has just started and all the flowers (especially tulips) are blooming. Bringing camera along is a must! Entrance fee was 10yuan.
