Good scenic views by the water. Worth a visit, especially if you have young children. Laohutan Scenic Park is also known by locals as Tiger Beach (Laohutan) Ocean Park. It is a recreational park with activities for the whole family. This ocean scenic park is comprised of Tiger Park, Tiger Square, an Aquarium, and Singing Birds Woods.

Laohutan Scenic Park is really a theme park with an entrance fee of 220 renminbi . I chose not to go inside, instead walked down to the harbour and the tiger monument. It was worth a stroll but not the most interesting or scenic place I visited in Dalian. I'm sure the theme park would be a great place for a family day out, if rather expensive even by British standards. However if you are a single traveller and go to Lahutan by bus you can then take a taxi to Bang Chui Dao scenic area. Be sure to ask the taxi driver to use the meter ( " Qing yong biao"). The entrance fee to Bang Chui Dao area is 20 yuan, it is a lovely place to spend a few hours, continue walking until you reach the shingle beach. Return by taxi to Laohutan and then catch the bus back to the centre of Dalian ( cheapest way) or directly back to Dalian centre.

In short: I came here as the Laohutan beach is one of the famous sights of Dalian city.

It turned out my visit lasted only 5 minutes after I saw THOUSANDS of people after arriving. 95% of them were not swimming but just standing or lying down by the shore. There were so many people I could hardly see the ocean.

This is especially incredible as I came on a weekday... or is Laohutan the only beach in all of Northwestern China?

This is a flagship marine animal park and show that China is trying to distance itself from the bad old days of keeping animal in out dated cages.

Scenic views and quiet place. The cleanliness of the place could be improved. The park is quite artificial & not a must-visit for tourists.

Very expensive. Over rated. On top of the entrances fees, you have to buy separate tickets to watch the 4d shows and to visit other the coral museum.

One of scenic places I admire, they have great views of the coast which will make you feel a taste of Greece. You can visit the bird sanctuary, go ferry rides or walk along the coast while eating barbecued cob / squid. Downside, place is a bit secluded and one must go early as tour buses last trip is at 6PM (as far I remember). Nevertheless taxis are available, but its not cheap.

This place is mentioned when you ask about Dalian. However, if you set foot at Tiger Beach, you will find that there is really nothing really interesting there. Maybe access to Fisherman Wharf?
