Not very new, Chinese style. The area is not one of the most fancy in Dalian, it's actually rather old. There's a gym on the fifth floor, very dark inside because there are no windows to the outside. Chinese food, one kfc.

A glittering mall on an interesting street in a city that has been called the Paris of China and the Hong Kong of North China. The New World Department Store has one glittering floor after another, linked by escalators and elevators, selling brand name clothes from America (Adidas, North Face, etc.), primarily, along with health food from Australia, and so on. The huge department store has a swimming pool on the top floor and yoga on the floor next to that, with signs promoting hot yoga. You can bargain here. I got a North American size sweater, hard to find in China, reduced from 600 Rmb to 450 by bargaining. It's on the intersection where Minkang Jie meets Youhau Lu, not far from Friendship Square and Shengli Square, or Victory Plaza. Youhau Road connects with the Russian part of Dalian, at one end, and a walk to the other end reveals a fascinating cross-section of the city.
