Great Coastal Formations
Jul 2021 • Couples
This area is quite a ways from the core of the city but if you want to get out and see something we would recommend this! There are many named formations along the coast. The Dinosaur Drinking the Sea formation is just outside the park.

The trails are not well maintained in some spots and appear to be overgrown in some areas so bring good shows and maybe consider wearing long pants. There are places to grab a snack or a quick drink.

This is at the east end of Golden Pebble Beach. To get here you can take the metro line 3 all the way to the end to Golden Pebble Beach (Jinshitan) Station and hop in a Didi to Dinosaur Tanhai. You may have to wait for a Didi to pick you up as this is out of the way.

Dalian Jinshitan National Marine Park
Sep 2019
This is great experience. The variety of coastal features is fascinating. Arches, stacks, beaches are all accessible by sturdy new walkways. Start early. Its a long walk Id say 3 or 4 miles round but you can always turn round or rest. For some reason the inhabitants of the Pebble Beach area don't like this attraction. Enquiries at the tourist center were very negative. We were told it was closed! Taxi drivers were very reluctant to go there.

New Gems For The Crown Of The GeoPark
Jun 2019 • Couples
A taxi driver told us the road to the GeoPark was closed, but he was just trying to trick us into taking a boat trip from Jinshitan to the park and beyond. Another taxi took us directly to the park so we could walk on top of the famous local landmark called Dinosaur Drinks The Sea. To see the impressive landform, you have to buy a ticket and go on a short hike, down a hill to sea level. It is worth the price and the walk. Close to what really looks like a gigantic dinosaur drinking from the sea, there is a boat ride that can take you to the far end of the hike in the Geo Park and it's is a beautiful ride. Beside the Geo Park, there's a new place called Merry Hearts Island that is not an island but a beautiful bay with an attraction beside it called The Lavender Sea, which is a small lavender plantation decorated with lots of spots for photo ops. Best of all is a short row of log cabins, all real wood, with mirrored windows, facing the sea. The cabins are for golfers, at the nearby course, but if there are no golfers staying there, they open it up. Imagine a quiet spot facing the Yellow Sea. At sunrise you can see why it's called the yellow sea as the big body of water turns to gold. Six hundred yuan includes entrance to Merry Hearts Island, the shuttle from the entrance to the beach and the return trip. There's a restaurant, snacks on the beach, and a beach bar at Merry Hearts. It's a very scenic spot with the Black Mountains in the distance, bedrock outcroppings exposed, lots of lavender, a little beach, lots of fishing boats, and blue water to the horizon. Don't let any lying taxi driver tell you that the road is blocked!

Unique Beautiful coastal walk among the rocks
Jun 2018 • Solo
I took the light rail train line 3 from a building behind the railway station to the terminal stop at Golden Pebble Beach (RMB 8 for 50 mins journey). On arrival, I booked bus ticket from the tourist information centre on the right after exiting from station. Then I boarded the red bus and there are brochures at the ticket centre and I could find the stop I needed. It is a popular stop and many people alighted here. It is about 10 mins ride away. Entrance ticket is RMB 70 and the sceneries and types of rocks varies. At half way point one can sit down for a seafood meal. At the end of it, I just followed the crowd and took the bus out before finally changing to one that will bring me to the station. I would have love to explore more places if I have the time. On the return journey, I stopped at the development zone stop and took a taxi to visit the numerous cherry farms at Big Black Mountain for cherry picking. I would highly recommend this Geopark when visiting Dalian.

Most beautiful place in Jinshitan
May 2017 • Friends
This is the most beautiful place I've been to in Jinshitan. The hike was lovely, overlooking vast cliffs and an endless horizon of a blue sea. I recommend taking a lunch and making a day of it.

Just WOW
Aug 2017 • Couples
This is a place well worth spending a whole day. The rock formations from 300-900 million years ago are just jaw dropping, some resembling animals and others being layers of colorful rocks. And it's not just the shape of the rocks, the landscape itself is magnificent, set against the beautiful sea and the mountains in the distant coast. Comparing it with some of the Australian coast shouldn't be an exaggeration. There are also a few pebbled beaches to enjoy the sun and the water (though swimming not possible). The only thing to avoid is the Tortoise Beach. it was overcrowded when I was there, or perhaps I was just unlucky.

Most Underrated Coast In China And The World
Jul 2016 • Friends
The Dalian Coast, east of Jinshitan or Golden Pebble Beach, is incredibly beautiful and should be world famous. It's a great combination of wilderness and developments with a long walkway winding through forest with countless views of the rocky coast and the Yellow Sea. Nearby there are restaurants and hotels. The crowning glory of the Geo Park is a rock formation called Dinosaur Drinks From The Sea but hiking trails take you further. Speedy boats give great views of the coast, too.

Fabulous
This area covers only about a city block but I could have stayed for hours. A great spot for photos and for kids and adults alike. Majestic rock formations with a pond and crevices and caves to explore. The very small price of admission was well worth it!!
