We arrived by train. The trains we saw at the station seemed relatively new, and the station looked good. We found the service to be friendly, reliable (leaving and arriving exactly on schedule), efficient and fast. It can be a challenge to buy tickets if you can’t speak Chinese.

Dalian train station and surroundings changed a lot since 2009, more shopping centre opened, and it became the 2nd commercial area in Dalian after Xi'an road. There you will find both luxurious and normal brands as well as lifestyle, just across the street from each other.

We took the high speed rail from Dandong to Dalian. While approaching, I realised that there are two stations which the train would stop. One kind lady next to me advised me to alight at Dalian North station as there is a metro stop there which will lead me to my hotel in Xinghai on line 1 (RMB 4). This train station is clean and modern.
I also went to the other train station to take the light rail train line 3 at an adjacent building to the train station to Golden pebble Beach (RMB 8 for 50 mins journey). There are many shops around the train station selling cherries.

You usually take other (Dalian North) station for speed trains, but those coming from other cities sometimes ends at Dalian Railway station. Ticket office is left to main entrance with English service at office window 1 (I still recommend to book the ticket online and use the window just to collect the ticket with your reservation number).
Signs are usually bilingual with English and you can find correct platform looking for your train number.
Lot of small shops and restaurants next to the trains station (south entrance) and large market just opposite the square from the north entrance side. Large couple floor underground Victory plaza close to the southern exit has million of shops and food options.
Metro line 3 starts close from the north entrance (look for the station building on left when exiting railway station).
Metro line 2 is at walking distance from south entrance.

One of the best railway station , I have been to. Clean,Organized and maintained just like airports. The high speed trains are special attractions .

Big train station, buying tickets it's rather comfortable but no English and copy of the passport is needed for foreigners. The trains are very good, some look like a plane inside! Consider to go there around 45 min in advance to buy the tickets and pass the safety check like in the airport, because it's often crowded, but much better than in other cities.

Dalian's train station is a short walk away from the first/last stop of the LRT or "chingway". Both are big buildings with trains that run on time. Dalian's train station looks like the one in my old hometown, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Under the train station, a broad street has been turned into a wide pedestrian walkway lined with vendors selling everything from snacks to shoes and luggage. It's like a quick trip to Beijing!

This train station is huge and modern. The station is very clean and convenient. Trains are good and leave exactly on time. A great way to travel China.

prepare for a security check like in the airport, trains station is huge, massage chairs :) , prepare yourself with an app to translate questions :)

Go to ticket office at any station, show reservation ID and passport to get your tickets. Window 1 at Dalian railway station has English speaking staff.
