While before the shell museum was hosted inside the castle, now the location changed to a modern shell-shaped museum in Xinghai square. Very interesting place, he entrance is around 100rmb.

This is an amazing collection of marine shells. It must be a magnet to biology students as it covers all I have ever known about the topic, and coastal living in Australia makes this common knowledge. They even had the poisonous Conus geographica from Australia on show. The building itself is also very interesting -- the spiral floor reminded me of the Guggenheim in New York. The signage in English was very good.

This building was torn down and rebuilt exactly as it was. It is now a 5 star luxury resort. Building and grounds are very nice.

The Dalian Shell Museum was demolished on 2012! It is therefore difficult for me to write a review of no less than 100 characters but I think I have just about achieved that

My mom and I visited the Shell Museum as part of a private cruise excursion in Dalian. We happen to love shells and collect them so it was perfect for us. Anyone who appreciates nature and sea life would love it. They have shells from all over the world - in every shape and size and color. The exhibits are not in English but they have the Latin names and dates collected, which is interesting if you are a biology need like me. We went with a translator/guide so that was very helpful. Make sure you get to the top where the handicrafts made from shells are - that's the frosting on the cake. Highly recommend!

It should not be listed as museum. We were fooled because it is actually now a hotel.Could not visit. But the caslte is beautiful. We strolled around ,took pictures on the bridge, walked upto the suspension bridge,Sat on the benches by the sea, very peaceful. The best view is at night because it then reminds you of a Disney castle!

I stayed in dalian for almost 2 months (2009-2012). This is definitely a late review.
I and friends went to see this castle, unfortunately it was being renovated, we couldnt get in. But as for the architecture, the castle is gorgeous, i love it. Finishing the castle tour, justr stroll around the neighborhood, take pictures around the bridge, have some coffee and tea:)
