The beaches in Dalian all look quite pretty but they are rarely cleaned. I would not risk swimming in the sea anywhere near Dalian due to the rubbish and lack of hygiene demonstrated by the other beach users.

This is one of a kinda beautiful beach you rarely see in China. Doesn’t have waves so it’s safer for Children. Good for a BBQ party. EXTREMELY COLD DURING WINTER.

The beach quality itself was of that unappealing, hard pebbly kind you find in coastal Britain, certainly not redolent of Miami, Florida. The water itself seemed on sighting in reasonably good nick and the sand was packed with row after row of beach shelters. The park area abutting the beach has some interesting sculptures and a giant seashell you can pose in front of. Two kiosks (one bearing the tag “No tea no fun”) sold all the beach wear, sand buckets and shovels and inflatable plastic toys any keen Chinese surf-adventurer could require. The beach regulations on the sign map forbids “the removal of sand without permission” and discriminates against people with a host of serious ailments by denying them (along with the inebriated) the right to swim at the beach.

The beach is really really small. I was there early morning in early May so there weren't too many people, but I can imagine that it is super packed later in the day and summer. Easy to get to via bus.
