Downtown Dalian's Olympic Mall
Dec 2018 • Couples
Dalian has a lot of amazing malls and this one is great but it's not even in the top ten. I don't want to knock the Olympia, I'm just saying there are several malls downtown and in Kaifaqu that even more impressive. Olympia is big, clean, opulent, and has great restaurants, clothing stores, et cetera, but it's a little out of the way. The downtown core, between the train station and Labour Park, is easier to get to and has more to offer.

Built to opulent perfection

Very well maintained, clean, awesome 'piano' sounding and light up stairs, and the toilets have toilet paper! A lot of malls we walked through were old, disgusting, not cleaned, squatting style without any toilet paper on hand!

There are so many shops and places to eat here however it is missing a few things you would think it should have. No bank, no ATM and no hardware or electronic stores. Most of the stores are clothes related so same same.

More seating or 'something' in the wide open spaces would be fantastic. I found during the business hours in the weekday, the mall is deserted. The weekend fairs a little better but it is a wonder the shops after paying rent and staff would operate at a profit. That said, it is a really nice place to kill some time and let it be said the abundance of cleaners is really appreciated.

Nov 2017 • Solo
Loads of international brands, eateries and food joints inside a 7 story complex right infront of Olympic square. Costs as expected was heavily tagged since this is one of well known shopping complex, No bowling alley makes it gloomy

Yet another mall
Oct 2017 • Couples
This mall didn't impress me at all. I know that's very subjective but in trying to make big open spaces between the shops they have created boring open spaces, empty and characterless. Put some seating, displays and interest into the hollow open spaces. Worse is that the restaurants and cafes are scattered instead of concentrated. Yes most of the brand names are here but the clothing shopping is lacking pop-ups and cheaper options.Try Roosevelt Plaza or the Promenade on Xian Lu or Kaisa Plaza on Tianjing Lu for much more interesting and alive malls with the same brand names. Most shoppers seem to be doing that. You'll do a lot less walking between shops.

New, nice & modern shopping mall

After watching the musical fountain show at Dalian's People's Square (大连人民广场)on 19 May 2017,we took a stroll down the road with no plans in mind. Just wanted to experience as much of Dalian as possible because we would be leaving the city the next afternoon.

We entered this modern shopping centre just to answer to nature's call, without realising that Bloomberg has awarded it a Best Retail Architecture in China award until 2 days before we typed this review and that's Olympia66 (恒隆广场)by Aedas.

Beautiful external and internal architecture. Interesting lighted musical staircase centrepiece. Even the toilets were carefully-designed with a child's toilet in each of the ladies' and gents' toilets ~ extremely clean. If we remember correctly, the information counters were well-designed too.

I saw Olympia66 when we first arrived in Dalian on 18 May 2017 when we were in a cab heading towards our hotel, The Castle Hotel. What caught my eyes first was the Olympics Park because of the gigantic Olympic logo on the ground and then behind the logo was Olympia66.

After a brief visit of Olympia66, we left to see Olympics Park which was a tad older and not as clean as People's Square where we came from. It had a soccer field and the locals were having a friendly (I think, it didn't look competitive) match. Olympics Park is just before Olympia66, just cross the road, 1-min walk away.

Opposite Olympia66, two roads and one square away stood Wanda Mall. Hmmm.... Wanda Mall with a Cineplex was very quiet for a Friday evening. Olympia66, by comparison, had more shoppers.
