If You Loved Modern Chinese History
Jun 2018 • Solo
This museum is known in English as the Historical Museum for Japan's Occupation in Northeast China. It is located next to Pu Yi's Palace. As the name of the museum suggests, it is a museum that documents Japan's invasion of Manchuria between 1931 and 1945. You will love this museum if you love modern Chinese history. Reason is because it is new and well- developed museum with many artefacts from the war and great solemn ambiance. To proceed, its a documented journey divided into periods. Presentation is pro-Communist China, depicting Japan as evil and glorifying the communist party (who paid for the museum). There is also a old American train outside the museum (though the English translation is inaccurate). Generally, the cons of this museum is that there are very English captions. Moreover, as the museum has a solemn ambiance, it can be dark. As the flooring is also dark in colour, you need to be mindful of steps and there are narrow staircases you may need to climb to view some exhibits. Not advisable for old people with poor eyesight and pregnant women to visit due to the dim lightings. Entrance is free. There are shops outside the museum that sells Russian products. Worth a visit to these shops too for souvenirs.
