This show is a must see for visitors in Nanchang. Every night there are two shows, at 20:00 and around 21:00, both last for about 30 minutes. First there is the show near the waterfront with lots of fountains, and afterwards the lightshow on all the buildings on the waterfront (and the other side) continues.

The best view in my opinion is from the side of the water. Then you can see the fountains and the buildings clearly. Also you can enter the 'beach' from which via a small dike you can access some of the islands. That gives a nice from from the water.

My friend (Chinese) who lives in Nanchang, took my husband and I out here. She described this as "the Bund of Nanchang", modeled after the Bund in Shanghai. Part of the charm of the Bund in Shanghai's attraction is the colonial buildings that line it. Nanchang may not have the old architecture, but they captured the skyline of Nanchang across the Li River magnificently. All the buildings opposite are decorated with moving lights that to me represented the water that so dominates the landscape of JiangXi province. The fountain water show was the best part.

The water show lasts for a good hour or so, and the the water fountains and jets are set to the music with lights and the functions! You can actually see the crescendos of the music (various western and chinese songs) in the effects displayed. It's also enormous, with huge spouts and long long alleys. It's gorgeous, and very popular with locals who come out as couples, groups, or just young people on roller blades. Good for a wander around of maybe an hour or two.

There is also a fun fair carnival type area with rides that cater to the very young or the very adventurous. We didn't go on them, but it would be a welcome addition for a family. There are also food stalls. We didn't eat at them as we were so full from the Chinese hospitality they were showing us earlier, but you could definitely grab a snack here. There are toilets as well. Using a wheelchair might be difficult in some areas, but once you're there it's pretty flat, so good for those with mobility issues. (As compared to some other places.)

Recommend for a night out with anyone!

The fountain show is about half an hour and is followed by a light show involving all the buildings on the skyline. I've never seen anything like it elsewhere.

Rent a 4 person bike.

Take time to walk along the river!

In the evening visitors can enjoy two different kinds of shows. There is a music fountain show, which is really nice. However the show that follows is even more entertaining. Actually I have never seen anything like that in all my life. There is a light show projected on all the skyscrapers and towers that are on both sides of the river. The lights follow the rhythm of the music. Words cannot really describe the beauty of the show. Both shows are for free and not to be missed out. It is easy to get there as there is a metro stop nearby. There are also many food stalls where visitors can buy any kind of Asian food.

I was tired when I went on the boat trip to see the lights. It is totally amazing and unlike anything I have seen in USA. Don't miss this.

Well Nanchang has certainly carved a niche for itself with this quite spectacular fountain and coloured light show set to music. Hordes of people on a warm summer night. Stay for the light show on the office buildings.

It was a majestic display which I haven’t found many of such in china.

You can go there slightly earlier to eat some ‘taiwanese’ street food.

This water fountain show combines music with a pretty good water fountain show. Pretty easy to get a good spot to watch since the show covers a long part of the river. I have been twice and it was a nice evening.

Nanchang at night is best seen from the Ferris Wheel (Star of Nanchang) but to complement this one should go to the water square to watch the colorful water show as well as the light show on the city buildings. The whole city area is beautifully lit but there are also big crowds. All one needs to do is to walk around the riverside of Nanchang near the water square, to enjoy the various light shows.

My spouse and I were strolling along the river when we stumbled upon this! The fountain's colours and actions were beautifully in sync with music and it was a joy to watch. The attraction can get very crowded during national holiday and weekends, so I suggest going mid week if possible. There is a metro station right around the corner from it (Qiushui stop) so it's easy to get to.
