Visited the jinshan temple.
Jun 2018 • Solo
I travelled to Zhenjiang by myself just after I visited Yangzhou.Zhenjiang is a small city but very clean and cozy.I took the bus to Jinshan temple.I can not remember how much the entry fee is.The temple is very beautiful and should keep quiet when visit the temple.I took some steps and to the high position to take a nice view. There is a nice lake just next to the temple. You can rent a mini ship and cruise on the lake.Everything looks great.

Very walkable park with lots of history

This place is so full of history. We hired a local guide for 100 RMB and she told us about the different stories, from the monk that established the temple to how the Yangtze River changed course and this place became dry land.

The temple is the main attraction of the park. It was built in the Tang dynasty and visited by the emperors in the Qing dynasty. Notice the yellow walls and dragons on the ceilings that indicate its status. The tower was closed for construction (has been for the past 2 years), but everything else is open. Climb up the hill of the temple and you will be able to see the river and the bridge crossing it.

The other attraction in the park that we visited is the so called "World's No. 1 Spring". It got its name after the Tang dynasty poet who said the water here tasted better than any other water when used to make tea. We took the ferry over (costed 50RMB) only to realize it was completely walkable to the island where the springs is. Felt pretty ripped off here as the ferry ride was only 5 minutes. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk from the temple to the springs. There wasn't much on the island besides a pond with bubbles coming out of it labeled "World's No. 1 Spring." We wanted to find a teahouse to try the tea here but couldn't find one that is open.

Lovely lake to paddle on. Peaceful temple. For a small city like Zhenjiang, this is a great place to relax and do a bit of people watching.

Disappointed overall
Jun 2017 • Solo
I had been here seven years ago and while many sites and neighborhoods in the area had improved, some dramatically, I was disappointed in the condition of this park. It was one of the highlights years ago, but now needs much maintenance. The tower was closed and many rooms throughout the park seemed to store random, unused furniture. The temple was still very impressive. I found it funny that I had to bargain with a vendor for a juice drink from a case because there were no prices listed and I knew what she was asking was twice what I should have been paying. This destination hasn't grown with the rest of the city.

Nice place for walking

Transportation is convenient. You can even take a bus from Yangzhou downtown to the park, or take a bus to Yangzhou from there.

I went there on a rainy day with parents, there were not many people and the air is moist. Didnt see a lot view due to the weather however the artillery historical location is impressive. Also although the mountain is not very high, it's nice to climb to the top and see the whole city unless of course in a rainy day.

Worthy of a visit

Interesting to hear the story that this hill has now moved closer?! Lovely to wander around and the temple which is Buddhist is lovely and once inside you can take photos but not in the immediate entrance which is sad as they have huge statues depicting gods and a smiling Buddha.
