It was interesting to visit the former residence of Pearl Buck during her years in Zhenjiang.
The home has charm. Exhibits were able to be seen as you could walk into rooms.
We arrived as it closed for lunch (12 to 1:30) so we had lunch nearby and returned.
The home is set in the lovely grounds of the park with the museum next door.
There is no fee, just a registration book.

It had a brochure and signs in English which were quite informational about the home and Buck's life. The rooms were a little cramped, as it was tired, but you can get really close to the artifacts there- they are not behind a rope like in most Western preserved homes. They even have some of Buck's favorite foods cooked and placed on the table. Overall, interesting but nothing really special, so only worth a visit if you are already in town.

Mixed feelings about this site. The house its in pretty good condition. Unfortunately, they are building a shopping complex around it so it's very difficult to imagine how the whole context was back in the day. There is an additional museum with a bit of explanation of Pearl S Buck's life, in a tacky and unorderly fashion. Overall it's pretty interesting for the author's fans. Note there is another Pearl Buck house in Nanjing but it seems to be closed.

I tried and failed to find this house eight years ago before maps apps. I was on the street, but couldn't tell where the home was. I tried and failed again last week due to major construction in the area and my lack of time. Finally, I made it and was glad that it was open because it is completely surrounded by a tremendous amount of messy construction. I believe the interior of the house may also be in for some renovation because workers arrived while I was there and furniture was being carried out. It was fascinating to see where the author grew up. I'm just glad I saw the street and surrounding area before the modernization. Impressive that there was no entry fee.

Located right next to the Pearl S Buck museum (closed since December 2015), Pearl's former residence is a pretty and full of era appropriate furniture and artifacts, though few were authentic property of Pearl Buck. There is no admission fee, and as of Feb 2016, the entire area surrounding the home is under construction. We enjoyed our visit and spent about 30 minutes there.
