These gardens are very nice, with lots of plants are rocks artfully displayed. There are many beautiful plants but no flowers as that was the style. This used to be a family house and there are several rooms that you can visit that show some period furnishings. There is also a whole section of bonsai trees that was really spectacular.... More

Great rooms to view, gardens to walk through, beautiful old furniture and drawings, old bonsais just a treat if you were the only one there! Lovely example of a chinese garden of which there are many to see.

I would place it the second in Suzhou - it is peculiar and worth visiting. Here the water plays more important part.

This must have been a paradise for the Liu family when they lived here. Many buildings and rooms with different flower arrangements. A big pond with golden fishes in the center of the facility. One part is full of fantastic bonzai trees, the oldest 250 years.

Beautiful garden. Saw a lot of gardens on our tour of China, and this was one of them. Looked like the rest of them. Would have been peaceful, but it was crowded, so it wasn't. To enjoy the gardens more try to find a time when there aren't a lot of people visiting, but this is China, and China is... More

We wandered through the gardens and there was always something of interest at each turn. One archway took us through to an area full of bonsai, so many of varying sizes and looked very old. The pond was lovely to view and the path meandered around it.

A beautiful day in Shanghai warranted a trip to the always raved about Suzhou gardens. We boarded the fast rail to Suzhou railway station. Upon arriving, the cab driver agreed to take us to our destination 1.5 miles away as long as we were "not on the meter for 100 rmb". Given the fact that no other cabs were available,... More

Would be nicer if we didn't go there in the rain and late in the afternoon when it was almost dark. Very narrow stone walkways.

My main regret was that we were given only 45 minutes to linger at the Lingering Gardens by our guide. We followed the volunteer tour guide -whom I hoped would be more enthusiastic, she was basically reciting off a memorised script and completely sans of emotions. Suzhou is famed for its beauty (architecturally, landscapes and people) and known as heaven... More

I see why they also called this The Lingering Garden. Beautiful garden, lots to see, the rocks, the pond, the bonsai, the trees, and different types of shrubs. If you are a fan of gardens and plants. This is a place for you. If you are not, don't waste your time.
