Modern shopping complex
Jun 2017 • Solo
Situated on the eastern side of Jinji Lake, this is just another shopping complex, with clusters of shops and restaurants along a canal. A good place for meals and casual shopping. Better to come in the evenings, where the buildings and bridges are brightly lit. Visit here if you are nearby around Jinji Lake.

Nice for a stroll!
Nov 2015 • Couples
The shopping malls are very modern. The place is very nice for a stroll especially at night but not shopping, the things there are too expensive. We noticed that most people were hanging around outdoor than indoor. It is not a good place for shopping and dining.

Just a little shopping and dining area.

Not a destination event. Just a little area with some shopping and dining alongside a canal. Nice for a stroll with the girlfriend after dinner.

Modern China!

Lots of restaurants and shopping in a very modern commercial area. Great architecture and above it all an impressive large LCD screen.

Times Square - reasonable shopping and food area
Jul 2015 • Solo
I was staying at the nearby Intercontinental hotel for a few days so I got quite familiar with this area.

Next to the small canal is an outdoor pedestrian mall area with a few individual shops (hardly any) and restaurants. On a Saturday afternoon this area was surprisingly quiet and there were actually a few empty shops, leaving me wondering whether it was either not yet developed or struggling somewhat. One great place however was a canal-side Korean restaurant, which was a welcome change after a few weeks of Chinese food. The food was delicious and fresh.

There are two malls nearby - one is called the Hisamitsu dept store (but good luck finding any signage as I certainly couldn't), which is a three-level store, and across the road is a large apartment tower with a mall called Harmony City underneath. I tried to find this mall on TA to write a review but couldn't find it anywhere.

The Harmony City mall has about 5 floors with lowish-end clothing and a few western brands such as H&M and Gap. There is a MUJI (Japanese) store, which is probably the best part of the mall - good homeware here. There are not so many food options but there is a busy coffee shop called Cafe Bene underneath. This place is clean and quite cute, but the coffee is ridiculously large and therefore far too weak. I went back and tried to ask for a smaller cup but it was lost in translation and a super-sized cup turned up yet again. But its a nice place to sit and relax for a bit and have an ice cream. There is also a small western supermarket in the basement with a reasonable selection of imported wines (France, Germany, Australia, Southe Africa, Peru).

The Hisamitsu Dept Store is open plan so all the small stores merge together (as they often do in Chinese malls). It doesn't really make for such an enjoyable experience as it lacks the character of individual shops and music. It has more high-end brands, but the focus is on handbags and shoes. What is great though is the food basement. There is a very good international supermarket here - lots of imported cheeses, biscuits, drinks... you name it. There are also many takeaway cake shops and some good restaurants.

Personally, I wasn't too impressed with the shopping in SIP but if you are in the area, it's worth looking around Times Square to get something to eat or some supplies if you're craving some food from home.

A modern shopping complex
Jun 2015 • Friends
This is just another shopping complex, but very modern and nice architecture. The modern part of Suzhou are located here. Definitely not a must go for tourist, but if you have time to spare, why not.

Not really for tourists.
Aug 2013 • Couples
Like anything else when you are travelling - it is your personal preference that counts. It was an interesting place to visit - look around, have a meal and do a bit of shopping. The amusement park is close and some cultural buildings and museums but I do prefer the older historical and cultural areas of Old Suzhou town. The west side of the lake was more appealing to me. SIPis a new area, being built with massive high rise residential buildings and business investments so not really a tourist attraction.
