Staying nearby at the Novotel Zhenghou, the "G BOX" building was a fairly quick walk. So I thought I would take off on a stroll to see this "Wetlands Project." As with most public areas in China, I was rather impressed! For a rather large city, the park surrounding the tower and theatre complex was quite relaxed and enjoyable. Not too many out and about the day I was there. The tower building is more impressive at night, when more people show up with their children and loved ones to stroll and sit about. As with many buildings in Chongqing and Shanghai the facade is covered with lights. Occasionally a screen lights up and shafts of light shoot outwards in a rather impressive fashion. When being a bit less impressive with its light show, it is still lovely to watch. The gold lights turn to a more white color until 10:00 when the entire thing shuts off like a golden checker board section by section. Still not sure why everything in China goes dark at 10PM, but it's true of Zhengzhou, as well. The lake is lovely with lots of paddle boats, motor boats and pontoons to rent. There is even a huge fun blow up something or other for kids to play in for a fee. (Think a balloon like hamster wheel.) There's even a larger one -- perhaps for big kids like me? On the ground level and waterfront of the “G Box”/Marriott Hotel there is a Starbucks, Burger King, jazz/pop club and a few other restaurants to enjoy no matter what time of the day. …

Like everything in Zhengzhou CBD show really greatness in the night. The neon lights are makes even beautiful this business spot. The whole area is very impressive, but the Marriott hotel in the middle is the real deal. Altough its very expensive to go up 80 RMB, but this is the second biggest tower in the city. At 240 metres there is a observation space, altough everything is detailed only in mandarin. And the top floor has a sky terrace, so if you want the best view, maybe buy yourself a dinner instead.…
