Much better then the Zoo
Jan 2019 • Solo
This Aquarium not very cheap (140 RMB) but worth every yüan. Everything is detailed in english, some of the attendants speak english ver good (better than hotel, or bank attendants) and help you to not miss anything. There are many themes (pirates, iglus, coralls, etc.) and shows, beautiful fish shows. You can stay there a whole day, and much more worth it than the ruined Zoo, where also am aquarium section, but not very good.

Better than expected
Oct 2017 • Family
I went to zhengzhou as a 12 year old boy from New Zealand wanting to check out the cool and diverse fish in this aquarium. We asked for directions at (one of) the multiple Mcdonald's in the area, the couple that we asked had obviously been to the aquarium before because they downright told us not to go and gave us directions to a different place. In the end we took a motorbike taxi to the aquarium. The line to enter the aquarium was pretty long but moved surprisingly quickly. Entering the aquarium i noticed multiple things such as the smell of urine, the source of the smell; a suspicious puddle on the floor and the crowd.
The crowd was thick and the tanks were not covered so anybody could put their hand in. Most of the fish had plenty of room to move. In the first corridor they had many kinds of fish. There was a fish bottle feeding place and the children could buy a milk bottle and feed the small fish. As we went upstairs we saw a stage surrounded by people and we found out that it was the sealion show but the crowd blocked just about all vision, the same could be said for the mermaid show.
The best part in my opinion was the Tunnel, it was a long glass tube with heaps of cool sea life swimming above it eg; Sand sharks, sting-rays, manta-rays, more rays and other cool fish I could not identify. They also had penguins, walruses and seals and turtles you could feed.
All in all Ii liked going but ZhengZhou itself is not that beautiful.

Pleasantly surprised!
Jul 2017 • Friends
The Zhengzhou Aquarium was a pleasant surprise, as I was not expecting much. There is a decent collection of sea life. You must experience the Russian Mermaid Show and the Sea lion Shows. Both were excellent. The latter had the biggest sea lion that I have ever seen! Plan around 1.5 - 2 hours for the entire experience.

Awesome Aquarium
Jun 2016 • Family
There aren't a lot of things to do in Zhengzhou, but the aquarium is one of them. There are some things that make this place unique compared to other aquariums I've been to (Shedd's, Monterrey, etc). There were a great deal of local fish, including some absolute monsters (10 feet?). Their sea lion show is great, including a sea lion that was probably 3x larger than any I'd ever seen. They also have a "mermaid show" where they basically enact an abbreviated version of a mermaid story inside one of their enormous fish tanks (better than I expected!). They have a large variety of sea life there and the place is laid out in a very neat way. There's also a children's area that seems like a completely different place.

I will echo some of the sentiments about the tanks though, especially the sea turtle pond. It was extremely cool to look at as there were loads of turtles and they were all within reach, but 3 feet of water didn't quite seem like enough for me. The tradeoff is that the animals are so much more accessible than they are in other aquariums to feed and to touch. There's also the "souvenir" shop: buckets of live baby turtles, frogs, salamanders...definitely not what you'd see in the states! We had an absolute blast and would recommend to anybody staying in Zhengzhou.

Interesting place, wild sealife
Dec 2015 • Solo
You would not think you would find amazing sealife in a place like zhengzhou.

The sealife is great and it's all interactive and interesting. I took some great photos!

As long as you don't think about the small tanks.

It was obvious that the tanks were too small for most of these animals. All looked healthy and it would be easy to make the tanks deeper.

Apart from that it was a good experience and worth the time and money.

Nice small aquarium, not a terrific staff
Nov 2015 • Family
I don't know what other reviewers are saying about the "poor conditions" for the animals, because it looked fine to me. While it looks kinda dingy on the outside, it's actually quite nice inside. There is a good selection of large and small fish from around the world, plus a sea lion show and a mermaid show. You can even bottle-feed some fish (for an extra fee).
The only downside I could see is that they really want your money. We visited this place with 8 other families on an adoption trip (the only reason I'd ever visit Zhengzhou anyway), and at this aquarium, if your child is a over a certain height, you pay, and if under, they're free. Anyways, this one child was slightly under, so they made the child stand on something to "make it taller", so the parents would have to pay. No amount of complaints changed anything.

Interactive and Fun
Jun 2015
The aquarium had a great many animals that I had never seen before...such as the arapaima which was featured on River Monsters. You could feed lettuce to sea turtles, bottles to fish, and fish to seals if you wanted to. They also had a shark petting area and a live touch tank for other animals such as horseshoe crabs. They had live animal shows which we went and watched. They were funny to watch although we had no idea what they were saying. The entry fee was around $20 for adults and less for children which they group according to height. All in all, a fun way to pass a morning.

Noone should support this
Sep 2014 • Solo
By now no one should be supporting animals in captivity.
The dolphins they have came from Taiji ( from the movie the cove) where thousands of dolphins are slaughtered every year.
The dolphins have no freedom, and belong in the ocean.

Its time to put these places out of business.
