“Small but interesting (and free!) museum”
We visited this museum before catching the bullet train to Suzhou. It had quite a spectacular entrance and inside, a similarly spectacular central atrium around which a spiraling staircase took you to the top or 3rd floor. The glass roof at the top of the atrium was rather awesome too. Each floor housed different artifacts. There was very little educational signage in English so our tour guide translated some of the more notable exhibits for us. The history of many of the artifacts depicted at least 5000 years of Chinese history. Items included bronze, pottery or porcelain. Amazing. As was an amazing circular cloud formation in the blue sky when we exited by lunchtime!
“One of the most amazing places to visit”
This was one of the most breathtaking sites of Buddhist art I have ever visited. Being from India, I am no stranger to Buddhist art. But nothing compares to the majestic site of the rock cut Longmen Grottoes. I travelled from Zhengzhou, which is farther off Luoyang and it toook me 2 hours each way. But the sheer splendour of the statues and intricate surroundings (though a lot of it is dilapidated) more than made up. A must visit.

This is not the Zhengzhou (City) Museum. The title picture is the Henan Provincial Museum on Nongye Lu (Road) which I have already reviewed under that title. The Zhengzhou Museum is a different museum and is located on Songshan Lu to the west of the Railway Station in the old government quarter. The artifacts pictured here are from the Henan Museum. Both museums are excellent, but they are different. And there is a Henan Geological Museum at 18 Jinshui Road which is also worth visiting. But the reader should be aware that there are a number of confused listings from Henan Province - incorrect labels or photographs posted from entirely different sites. I will try to make corrections when I have time, but so far I know of at least half a dozen incorrect attraction listings in the Zhengzhou-Xinzheng area alone. Tourists are not always the most reliable sources of information.

First of all this is not Zhengzhou Museum, this is also Henan museum, (the mai building). Zhengzhou Museum is near Bisha Hillock south west from Erqi Square. Address also wrong, the right one: The cross of Zhongyuan East Road, and Songshan South Road.

I went there yesterday, it is a wonderful and beautiful museums. It only has 4 floors so it does not take very long to walk around. Only wish they had better toilet facilities that are more appropriate and cleaner.

Don't waste your time here!! Very small limited exhibits with most walls bare - looks like most of wall exhibits have been removed. Can walk around and look at everything in about ten minutes. Very disappointing.

Joined the tour agency for this 8 days visit to Zhengzhou and cruising along the Yellow River. Museum visit was interesting viewing all the artifacts which is so historical too. Do include a visit to this Zhengzhou Museum in your next travel itinerary.

the exhibit on ancien china is very well presented. It permits yu to understand precisely the chinese history, through the changes in housing, sculptures and artifacts. One of the best Shan and Zhou bronzes I have ever seen

Normally I would pass through a museum quite quickly not wanting to miss what is happening outside - this museum was an exception. Excellent displays and some extremely interesting exhibits. Way superior to Shanghai Museum. The mummified remains (from Xinjiang??) were amazing. Great porcelain collection too.

I am seldom a good museum visitor but the visit to Zhengzhou Museum was really worthwhile and a must for all visitors. It showcases the early cilivilisation of China from the Xia Kingdom and many interesting artefacts and treasures. A museum guide or someone conversant in the history of places in Henan and the artefacts and treasures would provide a better understanding and appreciation. It is truly a part of Amazing China!

The main building is closed but there is a very good display in a nearby building. All the information is translated to English so I learned a lot. The history in the area goes back to 7000 BC. If you like history/archeology museums you will like this one.

about the things in the museum and details of every thing
Hi! There are 2 different museumin this city, the Zhengzhou Museum wich is near Bisha Hillock (I wan't there I want to go there but I don't have time for that) and the Henan Museum (the Pyramid thing). Here the two museum looks like mixed up, the same picture added both of them. So I can't tell you anything about the Zhengzhou Museum. The Henan Museum on the contrary: When I was there the main building (the Pyramid) was closed, and I felt a bit let down cause that is the main attraction here, but I was in the winter off season so they are maybe renovating - I read reviews from september and it was open. Two smaller building was still open. From the right building (if you face the main entrance) there are some writings about the history, everything in chinese, and really not many stuff there, maby 20 writings. On the left there are vases, mask, weapons, and other ancient stuff from Anyang, Kaifong, Luoyong etc. Everything is deatiled in english. I am a historian Im fond of these stuff, because its archeology, but maybe somebody find boring. Anyway its a good 1 or 2 hour tour if you want to see everything. Also the ticket is free.
