Best Museum in the area
Jan 2020
I was lucky to visit this museum a few times in Zhengzhou. One time I was lucky to get an English tour. You can learn a lot about the past of the area. Henan is one of the oldest parts of China and you can't help but feel that its a shame more of the history has not been preserved. This museum is a great start though.

Henan Museum Tour
Sep 2019 • Friends
A very interesting journey into Chinese History from the very beginnings of artifacts dating back to 4000 BC up to when the Henan province relinquished it’s capital status. Really well laid out chronologically and good English descriptions. Allocate about 90 mins.

Interesting small museum
Sep 2019
This was part of our TripADeal tour of China. The museum is interesting and small. So you wont get exhausted by going through it as the whole musuem can be comfortably covered in an hour or so. It is nicely displaying a collection of historical artefacts, pottery, bronze & stone items that date back to various dynasties.
It is somewhat hard to figure out the historical significance of many of the displays as the signage is mainly Chinese. There is some English there but some of it is a bit confusing. Overall it is a nice museum.

Lots of ancient artifacts, fascinating history and good to have a guide to provide more information. I enjoyed it but was rather dark inside.

This is great museum, however its undergoing renovation and only a tiny part of the museum is on exhibits. Not known when tthe renovation will be over, otherwise its a little too little to see.

Mix of modern & historic
Apr 2019 • Couples
Interesting well laid out museum with a section explaining the water system developed along the Yellow River as a power source for China. There is also a large collection of historical artefacts, pottery, bronze & stone items that were discovered during the building of the dams.
As with many museums in China there is a lack of multi lingual signage which makes it difficult to fully appreciate the history you are viewing. It’s important to have a competent guide who will explain these displays.

A small but interesting museum though worth noting, we had a tour guide to help give context to some of the displays.

A great collection of Chinese history

There is no charge for entry and you need to allow several hours if you want to see everything. If you enjoy history you will love it and even not there is plenty to keep ypu interested.

To really best appreciate the oldest surviving ancient civilization

The museum was undergoing renovation, we were able to visit an annexe and it was totally fascinating. Excellent selection of pieces that highlight the prowess of the artisans of China from 1000 to 5000 years ago. I would not miss this.
