The overhead cable car was awesome. Definitely keep it. The swans and the ducks on the lake were great. The monkeys were great, especially the monkey island. The giraffes were cool. The giant bird avery was wonderful, so many different birds and very interesting and a lot of nice plants too. They had some interesting birds not in the avery like the hornbill and parrot and toucan also. The lions and bears and tigers were cool. The small fish in the tanks were interesting too. The area where the porcupine was kept was also good.

The large birds, like the peacocks and the emus were really cool.

The other animals not so much.

Elephants were kept inside and had their outdoor area locked even though it was a nice day. Their inside area really needs to be cleaned.

The lion cubs were in a cage that would probably have been fine for younger lion cubs, but these lion cubs looked like they were several months old and had grown out of it and needed to be moved in with the other lions. Also the area needed to be cleaned.

The area with the farm animals needed to be cleaned.

The panther and leopard were by themselves in very small cages. They looked like they had good food and water, but you can't keep a wild animal like a panther or leopard in a small cage the size of the average bedroom with nothing at all to do. Also cages needed to be cleaned.

The same with animals like the anteater or lemur, it was mostly inside and not their natural environment.

The water of some of the bigger animal pools in the aquarium really needed to be replaced, and the pools are too small for those animals. I'd prefer to see them go to an aquarium with bigger tanks and replace them with either different kinds of fish or other kinds of small reptiles.

Amusement park and boats were only half operating. I think the boats and rides can be nice, but I don't think it's necessary to have so many boats and so many rides, I think staff should focus more on cleaning and modernizing the zoo and have fewer rides and boats.

Struggling to find much to do in Zhengzhou and having just visited Henan museum, we decided to walk the short distance up the road to visit the zoo. 30Yuan entrance fee.
First we visited the aquarium section, facilities so old they it looked like we had walked into a fish restaurant and needed to choose what we would eat. Saying that I wouldn't have wanted to eat anything on offer, the fish that weren't floating upside down dead didn't look in too good of health. This was a sign of things to come.
Next was the seals which I think numbered 3 which were swimming in circles in a pool of rancid water not much bigger than a bath tub.
Next we saw some monkeys, much better facilities but extremely dirty, they need to take some employees from the money making amusement park inside and have them clean the cages. The glass was pretty disgusting not to mention inside.
Then there was an outdoor monkey area with electric fencing and a moat to keep them from escaping the island, the moat barely had any water and was just filled with dead or dying fish.
Besides this there was a tiny Avery which must have been 50 years old, housing two huge birds of prey, looking in pretty bad health and no hope of being able to fly in there.
Then there was the gorilla enclosure, one lone gorilla who looked a shadow of the gorilla photos on the walls. Adjacent to this poor guys room were some small animals out of 6 I am pretty sure 4 were dead, they had been placed in a pile on top of the only source of heat in what I can think is the hope that they'd come back alive, I don't think so.
A couple of kangaroos that could barely walk, with the agility of my grandmother, clearly not able to get anywhere near enough exercise and a couple of goats who obviously weren't popular enough so just had their enclosure filled with old metal barriers and rubble.
By this point we had had enough and decided to leave, I dread to think what the lions and elephants conditions were like but I would imagine not much better.
I am not a crazy animal rights type person but this place was just disgusting even though most of the Chinese visitors appeared to be satisfied walking round banging on the enclosures.
Don't support this place by visiting, they need to get their priorities right and start reinvesting some of their profits into taking care of their animals

The activity is totally inhumane and against animal welfare. They are kept in tiny, rusty and disgusting cages for a lifetime just so you can see them for a couple of minutes.

It was a great zoo, but I really wanted to see Pandas and they had recently been removed for a short time. Very disappointing.
