Very nice park with a lot of Russian style buildings. Paid for one stage show when the second stage show was almost the same and free!
Really big with good walking
Good clean fresh air

An incredible place to wonder around and get lost for a few hours. Got a Didi here from centre of Harbin, you drive down some random rural streets but is totally worth the hour journey. The Russian buildings, crisp snow, miles of open space offer some peace and tranquility away from normal life! Only down side was that is was hard to get a hot cup of coffee, which was much needed on such a cold day! Highly recommend visiting, probably my favourite part of Harbin!

A bit out of the way so recommend to hire a car unless you are with a tour group. Place was still closed early Jan but open to visit, you just cannot go into most of the buildings. We spent roughly two hours walking the park and seeing all the main architecture. Everything was covered in snow, and blue sky made for a great winter landscape.

One of must visit attraction if you go harbin, china. Overall harbin is an amazing place at north East china. Volga manor locate around 30 minutes from city center. You can feel european taste in china mainland. Buildings, museum, food, culture. Overall its a great place to visit.
Note : ive been in china 3 times without tour guide. Not recommended for most people. Language will become a huge problem. You need vpn to access internet. Prepare well. Its recommend to you to rent a car when you visit harbin. The most recommended place to visit is china snow town and ice festival.

Totally loved Volga Manor. It is like a Russian village. Lovely to stroll around. Lots of photography opportunities. Huge area though so be prepared to walk. You are free to visit all houses if they are open. There are restaurants too. Went in for coffee in one of them. Lovely architecture but I loved the trees in the snow. And ice on the tree branches. It would be great to stay a night though if they have programs for the guests.

First English review here !!

I searched on the internet about tourist places in Harbin and found out the Volga Manor. Unfortunately I didn't find any English information about this place. I'm glad that I have Chinese friend know about the place and she called the Volga Manor by herself. Volga Manor is located about 29 km from St. Sophia Square in small town called Chenggaozi. My friend informed that there are some ways to go to Volga Manor.
1. By bus: If go by bus, you need to take a taxi to Tongxiang Store, then take bus 340 or 377 to Chenggaozi, then transfer to bus 377 suburb Sanjiazi line(三家子线) to Volga Manor. To go by bus is very cheap, but it seems complicated, especially for non-Chinese people since it's hard to communicate if we don't speak Mandarin at all.
2. By taxi: but I was told by my friend that it's hard to get taxi from Volga Manor since it's located far-off the crowd. You might asked the taxi driver to get back or waiting in front of the Volga Manor but I think it would be difficult too since you have to explain that to Taxi Driver :D
3. Rent a car, finally I rent a car (with english speaking driver) and costs 600 RMB for 8 hours or 80 km usage.

The Volga Manor itself is beautiful. You will feel like you were not in China with the Russian music playing on the background. The Manor itself has hotel, restaurant, баня (banya/Russian sauna) and also there's a Russian dance show every 11 am and 4 pm so it's best for you to visit Volga Manor during these times. The entrance is 50 RMB but I'm not sure whether the Russian Dance is included in the price.

It has also St. Nicholas Art Gallery and the architecture design sampled the original St. Nicholas Cathedral that was destroyed during Cultural Revolution in Harbin. Overall, it's very beautiful place if you would like to visit Russia without crossing border and another visa.

Decided to visit Volga Manor with my girlfriend as a trip out of the city over the week-end. Only had limited information about the place (the website doesn't seem to want to go to the English version) and most reviews are quite old, so I was quite apprehensive.

All of that was worrying for nothing because it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip. We decided to stay overnight in order to take it easier and do things at our pace and we wish we could have stayed longer. The stay at the Volga Hotel (not the business hotel) was excellent and we were very pleased with our room. Bed was more comfortable than standard Chinese beds (but still not as comfortable as Western beds), the rain shower was a real treat and just the general size of the room was excellent. The price was very decent as well, especially as breakfast and entry fee were included in the price of the room.

It is quite easy to get to Volga Manor from Harbin, being somewhat familiar with public transport we opted for busses. From Central Street one can get bus 103 and get off at the end of the line, walk towards Hongqi Street the opposite way you came from and get the bus number 377 going the same direction the bus 103 went. Once arrived at the end of the line at Chenggaozi town, there are plenty of red three-wheeled taxis that will take you to the park for a fair price. In all, we paid about ¥17 from Harbin to Volga Manor going this way. It is, however, also possible to go by taxi all the way from the city but you might be charged a flat rate.

The grounds of the park are definitely not that extensive at all, so a trip to Volga Manor can be done as a day trip out of the city. The entry ticket is ¥100 and this only covers the ticket, lunch at the Chinese buffet is ¥70 per person. Alternatively, you can pay ¥290 for a ticket that covers entry, lunch and a Russian dance performance. Additionally, you can pay extra for other activities that vary from season to season. If you decide to stay overnight, ticket and breakfast are included but lunch and dinner will not. And as far as food is concerned the choices are rather limited; there is only a Chinese buffet restaurant which is quite decent but has very particular times for breakfast and lunch but is open from the afternoon until closing at 20:30. Be careful, though, as it sometimes is closed in the evening as we found out the hard way. If you don't fancy Chinese buffet, there is also a 'Russian' restaurant which is open and serves food all day. Unfortunately, the menu is only in Chinese and there are no pictures so unless you know some Chinese or have a Chinese speaker with you it will be extremely difficult to order as the staff at the restaurant speaks very little English. That said, the food is alright but nothing spectacular, it is probably the only thing that takes the vote down from 5/5 to 4/5.

The structures within the grounds, however, are definitely a bonus. There are a number of replica Russian-style buildings from various parts of North Eastern China, with the highlight definitely being St. Nicholas Cathedral. Unfortunately, most of it is a reconstruction of a church that stood in Harbin. Still, it definitely has character and serves as focal point for the rest of the buildings in the park. Added bonus is that there are a range of summer or winter activities to keep you busy after sightseeing and a Russian sauna if you want to relax after a day out.

Volga Manor is definitely worth a visit as it makes for a good break from the city and it is extremely quiet and relaxing (we went just before Chinese New Year and there was hardly any people).

HOW TO GO THERE?

-From Harbin city, just ask your hotel to book a metered taxi for you. There is absolutely no need to engage a full day driver.
-It is cheaper for you to go by meter. About 80 rmb to go.
-The best option is to go to the tourist centre and ask for a quotation. We were so surprised by how cheap the quotes are!
for e.g for a ski trip we paid 350rmb for 2 pax for (4 hour private driver transport, lunch and full ski quip rental). That's like 30 bucks per pax. Sadly we already booked a taxi driver from the hotel so we did not get a quote for Volga manor.

THE GOOD

-Beautiful place in winter. Really like a wonderland. Pictures speak for themselves.
-Premises are big. We went on a weekday, no crowd.
-They have rimmed trees. We were surprised to see rimmed trees there, we thought we could only see them in Jilin.
-Beautiful place for photography. Amazing Sunset.
-Additional fun: Ski for beginner(rather flat surface), ice skating, slides.
You can spend a day there. Note that in winter it starts to get dark at 3pm. Do go there early. It's gonna be a short day.

THE REALLY BAD:

-DO NOT STAY there at all cost. We did. Big mistake. It was not cheap since it was peak, it was more expensive than our Sofitel hotel in Harbin city.
-Old hotel, Rude staff, people smoking everywhere inside the premise(standards of many Chinese hotel)
-Mainly targeted for local tour groups. As rude and aggressive.
-Rooms are old and stink.
-Room service is non existent, we called for missing towels, the staff gave a 'how dare you' call us attitude. The towels never came. We had to go downstairs to ask but we only got a face towel. Excuse given 'no more towels'.
-Hotel management is very bad. They oversold tickets for the night show only to deceive you by making you wait in another room for 1 hour .Later realized we could not see the show and ask for refund.
Bad bad experience.

Conclusion: Go there, amazing place, but do not stay at their hotel at all costs.

Visitors visiting Harbin must spend some time at Volga Manor which is about 30 km from the city and take about 50 minutes by car in winter

The estate is constructed with Russian style buildings - including churches, hotels, restaurants, recreational facilities, and even a castle like building. The whole facility is very spacious, on the day we went (28 December) it was around -10 degree C in the morning and the whole estate was covered with snow. It was really pretty.

The entrance fee is very reasonable - CNY100 for adult for entry only and CNY 290 each adult which include entry, lunch and show (Russian dance and songs). As I only intend to stay for half a day, I took the entry only ticket - I consider it was a great value, especially I was able to take a lot of pretty photographs

The scene with snow was very nice, and it is ideal for those who like photography

The buildings and decorations were very photogenic . The lake and small river were frozen and some trees were partly covered with snow offering a beautiful picture. The Russian style buildings and church also looked great.

When you start to feel cold after being exposed outdoor at -12 degree C for 2 hours, you can enjoy the warmth and hot food at one of the restaurant. I dropped in a Russian restaurant which has a high ceiling at entry, a large hall and very we'll decorated.

I had Russian beef and vegetable soup and also Russian red sausage with potato. The sausages and potatoes were very tasty. The price was very reasonable : CNY 28 for soup and CNY 68 for the sausages.

One feel totally strengthened and relaxed after the meal. In side the dinning hall, it again offered excellent scene for photography

There are both hotel rooms as well as rental houses within the a estate, and also a slope for skiing and a ice skating ring

The place was not crowded

We spent around 3.5 hours walking around and having lunch.

For those who have the time, you can consider staying for one night and spending 2 days at the manor.

A really pleasant visit to Volga manor during Summer. Booked a one day tour due to the distance of the place, which included transportation To & Fro & entrance fee ( really worth it as it was pretty far from city central ). Paid additional ¥110 for a 1 hour Russian cultural show, boat ride & mini Train ride. The cultural show was unexpectedly good, not the stereotypical unenthusiastic performers but actual good Russian singers & dancers. The boat ride was average but did give us some good vantage point of the buildings. Mini train ride was unnecessary, can forgo that as can definitely walk up to the intended destination. The highlight of our trip there was the bicycle ride throughout the whole park ( a definite must do ) , the bike rental fee is only an additional small cost. The park is perfectly mapped out for the bike ride to all destinations, a time saver & also fun. The park consist of beautiful Russian structural buildings that are picture perfect & breath taking. Do remember to bring a pack lunch there as not much variety of food to be bought unless planning to eat at their Restaurant.
