I normally take the Palisades Interstate Parkway if possible -- the stops are always interesting, and the road has one last cheap gas stop before going upstate New York. The food in the Inn is limited in scope but remarkably good for a place run by kids between 18 and 26 or so. Also quite a good selection of books... More

A great area to start a hike. There are food facilities here and you can grab a bite to eat. The views are gorgeous as well. Right off the Palisades Parkway Northbound.

Hiking trails are very well maintained and easy to navigate. Plenty of picnic tables to have lunch while taking in the beautiful view. Don't forget to bring binoculars to see the birds of prey up close. Hawks,Bald eagles and vultures were easily spotted. Also, don't forget the bug spray.

We planned a hike, which we found on the New York New Jersey Trail conference website. It was a 3 mile, 2 hour hike on relatively flat trails, except for 1 stair climb toward the end. There were 6 of us and all were novice hikers. At the information and snack bar there were lots of printed material about the... More

Last stop along the Palisades Interstate Park in New Jersey which is about 12 miles, we hiked the .6 miles to the Women’s Federation Monument on the cliff top in Alpine. It was a serious hike with lots of stone steps. The hamburgers were huge and excellent at the refreshment stand. This was a really great find!

We enjoyed all our activities in The Palisades Interstate Park. It is a picturesque park for outdoor activities. We walked a few trails but we did not do the Giant Stairs yet (hopefully next time!). The Lookout Inn is accessible from Palisades Interstate Parkway and it is a good starting point for a few routes.

If you go here! You must do Giant stairs Hike ! It takes about 3 hours (Four Miles). Take a lot of water. I assume during rainy season some parts of the trail could be flooded. But, it's different & very enjoyable.

We came here today again with the pup and it was beautiful!! It was snowing but that didn't bother us. The trails were clear, nobody else was on the trail with us so our dog was able to be off leash. The trail markers were easily seen and lots of photo opportunities. Unfortunately, there was heavy fog/clouds so we couldn't... More

This stopping point off Exit 3 northbound on the Palisades Interstate Parkway leads into a large parking area where you can get out and walk several yards to a lookout area that gives a great view over the Hudson River, and views across to the town of Hastings-on-Hudson and further south to Yonkers. There's not a view of Manhattan due... More

This is a very nice stop along the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Coming from the south there are a couple of nice minor lookout points that are clearly marked shortly before their exit ramps. If you are going this way take a few minutes to appreciate the view from these points, especially the one a bit past exit 1 which offers... More
