Positive: The buildings are very beautiful and modern, the design is great! You can find plenty of restaurants, most of them nice priced.
Negative: The luxurious goods are by far too expensive! It's not at all clear why they call it Duty Free...Can not say anything about taxis or other transport, because we stood in Westin which is situated just in front...

My hotel (Sheraton in Haitang Bay) has free shuttle bus to this mall. So we came here for two-three hours around noon, taken a lunch at food court and windows shopping. Not interested in buying really.

Spacious, comfy, modern. The gardening outside the mall is nice for pictures taking.

Afterall, not a bad place to go if you cannot think of any other activities.

We are staying in Haitang Bay and decided to check out the Haitang Bay Duty Free complex. Although the building is great and huge, there was barely anyone in there and the shops were all very high end and prices didn't appear to be duty free at all. There are a few eating options which are probably the only reason that you would go there.

First you need to have a airplane ticket from Sanya to another country, then you have to register at the reception counter, then after choosing your goods you go to pay at the counter, they tell you that you need to pick it up at the airport (??????!!!) I don't see what is the point of the mall, where you can find the exact same products as in the airport and where the sell attendants are not even knowledgeable...

This place sells all the western brands. If you are tourists from USA, do not bother to shop here. The prices are much higher than America. However, the staff here are very friendly.
On the other hand, this is an upscale shopping place. The facility is very new and clean. The top level is a food court. Maybe a place if you want a clean and nice eating place.

My wife and I took a taxi from our resort (Renaissance Sanya Resort) for 30 rmb (metered ride). The shopping complex is a beautiful newer building with two towers, looked amazing at night with the lights on. We walked through both buildings and they had all the higher end name brand stores but everything was very expensive. My wife believed the prices in Canada were much cheaper. We ate supper on the top floor in the one building as they had their food court and other restaurants there. You have to go and purchase a food card and load money onto it, then present it at the restaurant where you purchase food. My food was good, but my wife's wasn't and she got sick later that night. The nightmare came when we tried to leave by taxi. There is a taxi stand out front and while we approached, there was a Chinese woman screaming at one of the taxi drivers. When they spotted us, we asked the price for a taxi to take us back to the resort and they asked for 90 rmb. We refused and they would not even bargain price. Another driver tried to get lure us over to a non marked taxi and again wanted a lot of money. We went to a police vehicle a short distance away and when we had a local friend translate our situation by cell phone, they flagged over another taxi and this driver stated he would do it for 120 rmb. We refused and the police did nothing. Luckily, a young Chinese couple that knew English saw what we had been going through. They tried to convince another taxi cab and they also could not get them to assist us. We finally walked back to their hotel, The Westin, where we were able to get an honest taxi driver to drive us back by meter, which ended up being 31 rmb. Needless to say, this driver got a big tip for his honesty. The complex is okay to visit, but be aware of what you most likely will experience if you are trying to get back to your hotel.

Nice architecture twin buildings house many brand name stores as well as a food court. Prices are probably good for Chinese visitors from the Mainland. Since we are from HK, we did not find the pricing attractive at all. If you are staying in Haitang Bay & have time to spend it’s an ok place to kill an hour at best.

Reading previous reviews I wasn't sure I would like to purchase some of the luxury brands the mall has to offer. Impressive futuristic structure consist of two different wings with a link connecting both from the third floor is just walk across from the ground floor over the square. Pretty much all luxury brands and new collections are offered. Service ok and pricing wise you may get some bargains compare to Hong Kong pricing and definitely better then mainland China. Looked at Ferragamo toes and they are priced below the US pricing yet slightly above that in its native Italy. Some cosmetics also at the best rates one can find within Asia and overseas. Not sure for all thy is there to offer but you may check online with the free Wifi that is available in the mall. Restaurant offerings very basic and a KFC, several coffee and juice outlets from Illy. Just good enough for a few hours in the afternoon.

This was a surprise this gigantic shopping mall in the middle of what seemed no where. Super high end shops. But as a North American there was no china pricing. In some if not most cases it was more expensive than Vancouver high end stores. Beautiful mall though. Visit the stunning beach too. The #34 bus from downtown Sanya took us there in 40 miunutes for 11 rmb each. We took a cab back to downtown for 90 rmb.

The reception counter staff are terrible!! No smile, no initiative and no customer service attitude. We simply asked for direction for restaurants and she just answered B. Our first visit there and if we knew where are the restaurants, we will not be asking! Food was more expensive but lots of sitting area. You can only get the discount if you are flying off from Sanya airport or if you are an overseas tourist departing from Haikou, you will not get the discount unless flying China domestic first before your international leg.

The taxis right infront of the building are rude and prideful drivers. One told us tat he will not drive us back to Renaissance Sanya unless we pay him CNY 100 and no meter (we paid only CNY 30 and we went by meter). He even shouted at us and my friend's dad nearly got into an arguement with him becos of this. Walk down slightly and you can find other taxi drivers who are more polite and friendly.

My personal verdict: DUN GO there unless you are into the buildings.
