If you are staying in the tourist enclave of Yalong Bay this is within walking distance of your hotels. On first inspection the front looked a bit drab but it is not without attraction once you walk inside. Plenty of restaurants there, strangely a lot with the exact same menu. Very little English spoken and mainly catering for Chinese and Russian tourists. There is a very nice Cantonese restaurant near the front entrance, which is a bit more palatable for western tastes and a nice bar selling Real ales towards the back which is worth a visit, as well as a few chain restaurants if you are craving a pizza or burger. A fair few shops there as well, generally went down there most nights as it will be a bit cheaper than your 5 star hotels for dining and a change of environment, don’t leave it to late as some restaurants are getting ready to shut after 10 pm but the bar opens till late. Plenty of taxis about if you didn’t want to walk.

Has a good supermarket, where you can stock up on cheap beer for the mini fridge rather than pay the outrageous prices of the hotels. There’s a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut as well as a number of Chinese restaurants. There’s also a decent brewery that opens at 6.30pm(?). Visited one evening. Good range of beers including an excellent Passionfruit IPA. Some beer made onsite, but the majority is offsite.
