Bus loads of local tourists. Boat ride is expensive and not worth the money to see the island. Need more creativity in its facilities and souvenir shops. restaurants have pooe hygience and caters only to locals. Poorly managed and maintained. Not suitable for international tourists.

14 Days in Thailand - Help (4 Replies)
Hi, I've finally decided on doing a trip to Thailand. Can you help me out with an itinerary for what to see in the north for 9 days starting Bangkok? We don't usually go on a holiday just to chill and relax. We love exploring and being involved in cultural things. I'm also doing 5 days in South East or South West island hopper. I can't decide where to go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi What time of year are you going? October - December is rainy season in south east, June - October is wet season in south west. 9 days in the north, from Bangkok you can do overnight train up to Chiang Mai or fly up there. If flying I would fly up to Chiang Rai spend 2 nights - get on the green bus to Chiang Mai 3 nights - travel to Pai and Mae Hong Son loop for the remaining time - fky from Chiang Mai to either Krabi, Phuket, Trang for south west or fly to Surat Thani or Koh Samui...More

Getting around in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (1 Reply)
Hi there, thinking about going to the Cocos Islands next Aug (kite surfing being one of the key activities I am looking forward to enjoying). Could anybody tell me the best way to get around and if there are lockers or means to store the gear nearby the kitting beach? I believe there is a yacht club in that end of the West Island, but I am not sure of the articular arrangements. Is motorbike hire a possibility? Any other tips and pieces of advice? Thanks!

Hi - great choice of holiday destination, especially for kiting! There is car hire available and also scooter hire. You could even consider a bike. It is about 5 km from town to the kite beach. Cocos is extremely safe, people leave the keys in the car and it would be possible to store your gear in the (unlocked) yacht club shed - people do this frequently. There is a company called Zephers ?spelling which runs kiting tours to the islands from around May for a few months - they have a shed...More
