In March, the waters were rather choppy so the snorkeling adventure was rather blurred out. Bribing the fish with bread crumbs is definitely a good idea of getting them closer to you.

During pandemic it’s not easy to find diving spots within China - so sanya it was.
First of all: dive with Rudy - he’s a good guy with proper English ! It was fun and every time again !
Second: the spot I was at was regarding to corals intact. Soft and hard corals.
Nothing spectacular but intact ! No bleached areas which was kind of surprising for me.
Big waves and a funny current made the dive especially likeable.
Why just four stars then?!
The Fauna is in expectation to its active reef just on a low score. Overfishing May caused the problem.
So it’s like u dive at a underwater flora-shop- with just a few fish as visitor. Sad !
But good for learning OW or doing other courses.

25 divers in the water at one time, depth 4 - 6 meters, pose for a photo and pay your money for a picture that includes fish feeding although you never actually see any fish, it's all computer generated.

Worst diving experience so far for several reasons: everyone recommends Rudy but I had a few bad experiences with him, few red flags popped up and I realized he scammed us a few times.
I asked him the price for a open water dive and I wanted to take a friend who would do the discovery dive. He said price almost similar but I would get two tanks...
we arrived, my friend had the theory and practice in the pool, all well.
There was another woman doing the discovery, We ended up in the ocean, me guiding my friend and Rudy taking care of the other woman.... Note: I only have my open water advanced certificate.....
I asked about my second tank, he said there is no such thing as me getting a second tank... I felt like I paid way too much for a poor experience.
since I did not even know the diving spot and we did not get a briefing, I didn't know where to go.
We stayed on a safe depth (7-8m max) since it was my friends' first ever dive and I am not certified to lead a dive.
Later that week we wanted to rent a boat for a few hours with a group of friends, Rudy said he could help us out so we relied on him. He showed us a few options with the price per hour and we agreed on a certain option. The day arrived, we arrived at the pier and it turned out it was a totally different boat, obviously a lot worse than the one we wanted. we had to keep discussing to eventually settle with another boat... slightly better. We lost over half an hour discussing over the phone, the boat was booked for 3 hours so eventually we only got 2 hours and 15 minutes or so... without any refund.
Rudy is very social and knows what he is doing, but doesn't seem like a reliable person to me. Typical tourist scam I guess.
In general; I would not recommend diving in Sanya at all.
- overcrowded
- overpriced
- nothing to see under water

You have better choices, apart from expensive hotels, ripping you off kinds of activities and super pricey food, there is nothing you can DO. LEAVE IT, find a better place.

Hi
I am planning to spend one week in Sanya during last week in December.
I would like to get more information about diving spots and your programs.
I am certified advanced, deep dive and nitrox and I have my own equipment. Around 80 dives logged and last 4 in July. Of course I do not have the tank.
Look forward to your reply

Please tell us about your dive center costs for various courses and fun dives.
Where is your location and which is the recommended hotel nearby ?
What is one likely to see while diving ?

$100-150 for two dive in Along Bay. To far place, you need to pay more. However, if you want to visit calm place, extra payment has value to pay. Hotels in Along bay are 5 star for all. It's about your budget. You can find 3 star to 4 star in town as well. I stayed in 5 star of Along with family and 3 star in town alone. Nothing special in the sea, just tropical sea, but it is rare to find in China.
