The Holiday Beach strip is a few kilometres from the Hilton Hotel on Binhai Avenue. We rode our bikes there. It is a long stretch of beach, but the main section people swim at is in front of a large white building, which has change rooms, snack outlets and people selling stuff.

Surf skis were being rented. The water is warm and a little murky, but given the heat we just walked straight in. Very benign conditions with no swell at all. A small crowd on a weekday. Good views back to Haikou. A couple of strange abandoned concert auditoriums - one quite large. Nice enough if you have the time.

One really odd phenomenon is a point about 3kms back towards Haikou where weddings are taken. I counted 8 couples all having photos taken on the rocks. Unique!

My wife has been coming here since she was a kid. As a teenager, they bbqed on the beach, not sure if that is allowed any more!

There is a free parking for a small number of cars as well as a few buses to get here from the city. In return, the beach isnt overly crowded and you get a few facilities such as changing, showers, jet ski hire and the all-important lifeguard

In addition, there are a few shops with snacks and essentials and a Hainan coffee shop too which is well worth a stop

This is a great place to go to get away from the commercialization and just rest and relax. There were food and fruit vendors so you could get the freshest of food as you rested along the beach. We actually rode an ostrich that was available to ride along the beach. Certainly never had done that. China is always full of surprises and this aquatint area was no exception.
