Crabs and mangroves
Mar 2021
Do go to this island, rent a bike and explore. Beaches are not so great on the island, but good seafood and great mangroves and crabs. Very relaxing!

Day Trip in the greenery
Aug 2020 • Family
July and August aren’t good to play a visit. Too hot under the extreme heat. Outside the entrance there are a few family restaurants. We tried fishing CNY 150 for four hours in the “family” pond. You can bring the fish away or let the restaurant cook for you in the meal. Bicycle rental is available, the family bike (5 seats) cost CNY 50 for rental, no time limit, with a deposit of CNY 100. You can cycle into the entrance of the forest. It was too hot and we didn’t go deep into the red forest.

Updated Wetland Walk
Oct 2019 • Family
Updated in 2019, access now requires a booking... Worth the time, it’s a pleasant walk with informative interpretations along the route. Add it as part of your Qi’ao itinerary.

A nice place to walk and get close to the wildlife
Jan 2017 • Family
We went there by bus, one bus to get out of the city then changed to bus No.85 which takes you to the island. To get to the mangroves, ride the bus right to the terminus. From there it is about 2.4 km walk to get get to the mangrove site. We hired bicycles to expedite our journey. The route is reasonably flat so easy to ride and very few cars. If you wanted you could detour via some other parts of the island.

The mangrove site is a nature reserve with raised wooden walkways forming a route of about 2 km. Along the path are signs highlighting various trees, insects, crabs and fish that can be seen in the area though I didn't manage to see much at the time I visited.

This mangroves is on Qi'Ao Island. Free to public, it's a few restaurants and paved walk paths - I've lunch elsewhere.

Wonderfully peaceful wetland environment
Dec 2015
The mangrove wetland ecological park is tin the Northern part of Qi'ao island. The island is located to the North of Zhuhai and is accessed by driving along the attractive palm-lined coas road and then crossing a bridge. The wetland environment has quite extensive board walkways and occasional seats. Trees and plants are labelled in English and Chinese, and there are also descriptions of animals that can be seen. Access to the area by car is restricted but pedal driven multiperson cycles are available. We were impressed by the peaceful atmosphere which contraste4d with the busy city of Zhuhai.

Rural China near the city
Apr 2013 • Friends
This area has been developed very quickly. Bicycle hire has become popular as well as electric golf carts and slightly more traditional tuk-tuks (also electric). If you take the #85 bus from Tangjia you have quite a walk so it is worth taking a bike or cart if it is hot. From the board walk you can see red mud crabs at low tide. Food and drinks are very limited on site, but there are numerous rustic "farmers'restaurants" nearby.

It could be wonderful
Mar 2012
On your way to the entrance gate you can observe Oysters being farmed. Be prepared for a little walk to the entrance or rent a ride.
We only took the "main round on the board walk" and got pretty upset on how this nature reserve is treated. Garbage from building the board walk and walk ways as well peoples garbage is just simply disposed of along the board walk, in the mangroves. It is nice to take pictures, either ignore the trash or look until you find a suitable spot.
If you take the time and look for them you can watch red crabs. I obviously feel sorry for them living with trash.
I think if this place would be cleaned up it would be wonderful, a great nature reserve. If ....
