Walking Street is the best fun on a warm sunny Sunday Afternoon. With a great variety of stores with cheap pricing it is a nice change from the hustle and bustle of the expensive malls. Clapping sales people hope to attract you into their stores, without hawking you, they smile and laugh when you take a bow and thank them for their applause. Grab a snack from a street stall or sit down and enjoy a coffee in a modern version of what China was like before the dreaded automobile.

It's a lovely street to walk down with lots of old buildings. Visit the old Chamber of Commerce between 9am - 5pm to get a taste of Chinese history. It's been restored into a museum. Taste the street food, and bargain in the variety of upmarket and local shops. Walk across the Qijiang River towards the Sheraton hotel and stop at Starbucks for a coffee, or take a river cruise for a mere 30rmb.

This restored historical area is well worth a visit if you are in Zhongshan. It is rather charming that most of the structures were built in 18th cenrury European style. It consists mostly clothing and sports stores of Chinese manufacturers. However, there is a lack of varieties as the stores tend to reappear after another 150 yards. It is a nice stroll on a sunny day. The down side is the lack of any decent place to eat on this street.
