The theme park has five roller coasters, primarily for young children. That said, some of the rides are for teens and daring adults. Many attendees where wearing masks.

We spent a day here and if you like amusement park rides it is worth the visit. It cost Y140 (if you are over 1.4m tall) to get in, all rides are free once you are in, and had a good selection of rides. We went on Monday Dec 25, 2006, not a holiday in Shenzhen, and it was not too crowded. We did not wait any more than 20 mins for a ride, and most rides were less than 10 minutes. There is a suspended looping roller coaster, mine train roller coaster (this was great), the drop, splashdown coaster (it was a cold day and we bought disposable raincoats for Y5), river raft ride, and a lot of other amusement park rides.

This place is a huge waste of money. If you have a larger frame, don't bother. I explicitly asked at the front gate, before I bought tickets, if I could ride the rides, because I know that I am a big guy. The attendant assured me that there would be no problem with getting onto ANY of the attractions. I should have known better than to believe them. Having lived in China for almost 9 years, I knew that they would tell me what I wanted to hear, just so they could get my money. So, I dropped the ¥400 entrance fee for my girl and me to get in, because she really wanted to go. I was able to ride ONE SINGLE ATTRACTION! I got to ride it twice. The other awesome looking coaster, after I queued for a really long time, I was told that I couldn't ride because I was too tall. I asked them what they would do if Yao Ming wanted to ride. As usual, sarcasm was lost on the Chinese. So my girlfriend rode by herself, which she also wasn't thrilled about.

Overall, this valley, and it's customer, were not very happy.

I'd rather spend the extra money and time and just cross the bay to Disneyland. Unless you enjoy spending ¥200 to walk around a theme park.

We went here a couple of Monday's ago. The park wasn't busy but their operations are pretty awful. I expected that.

What I didn't expect was both major roller coasters AND all of the flats section to be closed. The best ride open was the mine train!!! Apparently all down for "maintenance" but with nobody even close to any of the rides. All the people that worked there seemed to be running at half speed. The food options were terrible. Basically there was nothing good to say about this place.

I don't know whether to bother going again to actually get to ride some of the rides or if I will just be disappointed again.

If you have an extra day in SZ and have no plans, this is a very good place to spend ONE day however note, this is NOT a Disneyland.
Happy Valley have its fair share of attractions but not in abondance. The ques can be long so expect a lot of waiting. Plenty of restaurants with nice food, suited also for western pallets,
Start with the Sky Train tour, a driverless rail that circumvent the park, giving you a good overview.
Don't expect that everyone speak English, this is China, not Hong Kong however, most clerks and hosts can speak decent English but don't expect them to understand puns, jokes and/or witticism.
AND, this is China, don't be chocked if people cut the queue and unless you want to be berated with Chinese insults, don't bother protest.

Don't go along to this theme park expecting Disney type entertainment, it's just a straight up amusement park. Nothing bad about that, it's a good size, has plenty of attractions and good rides plus a good water park and entry is quite well priced. However if you are a Westerner and you are over 185 cm or 90 kg expect to have some problems going on some attractions, especially in the water park. Overall I would say it was worth the afternoon we allocated to it. Oh and a word of wisdom, if you aren't familiar with Chinese squat toilets I suggest you go before visiting.

After a disappointing shopping experience, this was a fabulous way to spend the day with teenagers. Relatively cheap to get in and as already stated in prior reviews food expensive (& not great-don't buy the corn, it looks deceptively delicious but has no taste) so bring your own snacks.
We went on a Friday and there were virtually no queues for the major rides- at most we waited 15m.
It is a bit bizzare, they get you to do stretches bf you get on certain rides, which I spose is not such a bad idea, then at the end of the ride they clap.
People continue to smoke in queues under the no smoking sign which is of no surprise seeing they do it everywhere else except in the subway.
The park is really quite big although the water park was shut when we visited.
Everything is spoken in manadarin but basically copy the locals, not like us when we got sopping wet because we didn't buy the rain jackets needed on certain rides.
Toilets are clean and signage good in both English and mandarin.
There is a map in English too.
Had a great day all in all. Did not really look at the shows/ other areas as had teenagers but managed to spend some 5+ hrs there easily.

Went with my 9 and 6 year old kids, so could only do some of the rides, while the other rides were for older kids. Most rides are old. Don't bother with the upgrading of the ticket package with the monorail to the other parks. Tress and bushes have grown, blocking most view. Waste of a 40min.
For lunch we just went with the simple instant noodle for 10rmb and hot dog sausage for 5rmb. water was 5rmb. so reasonable price, just no other selection.

We went to happy valley yesterday with husband and 5 and 3 year old. Heade straight for the Mayan water park which doesn't open till 2 pm and only between may till October (check dates and times before visiting). There are lockers which cost 20 yuan ($3.50 aud) so you can enjoy all the water without wetting your things. There are giant water slides for kids over 1.45 metres. There are faster long watslides for older kids and adults. We spent most of our time in the wave pool. The kids didn't want to get out. There is also a tidal loop attached to this pool where you glide around in very mild rapids. There was also a massive Mayan play centre with stairs and slippery dips and mini waterslides for our little kids. This was amazing. We then spent all our other time at magic castle world after leaving the water world section. Our kids loved just exploring and climbing on the different beautiful fairy like houses. We spent from 130pm till 6 pm and we didn't have the energy to see any more. We really enjoyed what we saw and at 200 yuan (34aud) per adult and kids
under 1.2 metres free it represented very fair value. It is situated at window of the world mtr and we were glad we went here rather than being stinking hot at the window of the world theme park. The water options at happy valley kept us much cooler. +++++they only accept cash-no credit card option+++++++
