Fun and easy hike in the city center
May 2021
This mountain is very easy to get to from the city center. It’s steps most of the way up. It’s a pretty quick and easy hike. We probably spent 2-3 hours there going up and down with a few breaks. We went during the holiday, but it still wasn’t overcrowded.

Mountain climbing at front door
Dec 2019 • Solo
This place is right along the boarder of Futian and Nashang district and three subway stops from where I live. Like a few hikes I have done in Shenzhen, it offers a steeper straight up climb or a more circuitous longer walk and you can alternate the paths at some intersections. Being in the middle of the city, you get panoramic views of Shenzhen skyscrapers and buildings but you are in a real mountain where you also see flowering trees and smell fragrant plants. I also saw a baby monkey curling up in a tree eating. Being so close and accessible, this is a real treat for outdoor activities.

Rewarding hike in a beautiful forest
Jun 2018 • Solo
The park itself has a set of trails. You can pick which one depending on the length you want to go for.

This is a great activity for a clear day. It doesn’t get too hot since the trails and almost fully covered with trees for the most part. The views are nice but I liked the trails a lot more.

I did almost 3 trails looping around the entire park, totalling upto 15+ kms in 3 hours 15 minutes. It’s not a very easy hike. Wear the right shoes and not any lifestyle shoes that you can get your hands on.

The trails are not marked very clearly either and English language signs can become non existent after a while. Follow the paved paths + stair cases and you will get somewhere for sure.

Mobile connectivity is weak in patches on the mountain. Take a picture of the trail at the entrance point.

Toilets are there on the popular trails.
Water bottles are sold in very few places / I came across just one stall so carry your own and enough of it.

The forest itself has beautiful trees and lots of Litchi trees too.

Worth it to spend a Sunday morning on !

Challenging but rewarding

Can hike from nanshan to luoho. I went to Meilin reservoir. Can be challenging.

Take water and food as there is nowhere to get this should you want it.

Highly recommended get great views.

Great for running!
Aug 2016 • Solo
Ran up 4.5km to the peak to visit the two pagodas and great views. There are hiking trails carrying on from the peak, making a nice 10k loop. The paved road makes the accent easier than the stairs.

Hidden gem
Feb 2016 • Friends
This is a mountain in the nanshan area of Shenzhen. Can climb it in an hour up hour down. Recommend the paved stones up and the road down as it's easier. Go on a clear day as there are great views to be had. It goes to 450m up. I really enjoyed the morning doing this.
Numerous toilets on route. Great views at the top. I caught the bus here as it has its own stop.

Nice climb, good views
Sep 2014 • Solo
I took the steps up and the paved road down. The paved road is a longer but easier route. The park itself is decent, not the best in Shenzhen, but worth a climb if you're into that sort of thing. The interesting part of climbing this peak is that you can see SZ's northern areas (Xili sports center) as well as HK. I have to agree with Kramson, wait for a clear day to climb it. The haze from humidity can hinder the view quite a bit. The view from the top shows how quickly the city is growing, some of the excavation pits are crazy, showing how China will remove mountains to build more and more buildings.

Tanglangshan Park
Apr 2014 • Friends
This park was pretty average in my opinion. Not too steep, about an hour up and an hour down. You can either take the paved road or the steps. It was too smoggy to really see much at the top. As with most of the mountains in China, you might want to wait for a clear day to climb it. This is something you can easily do in a morning or afternoon, no more than 3 hours. I would take a taxi to get here, you could walk from the nearest metro but it might take awhile.
