I find this beach better than Dameisha (which is OVERLY crowded especially on weekends). We went to Xiaomeisha on a Saturday and I was expecting a huge crowd but it wasn't as crowded as I thought so. Just to give you a heads up, this isn't a public beach. Entrance fee is RMB 50.00 per person, free for a child less than a meter in height, RMB 35.00 for senior citizens with a valid identification card. We rented a wooden cottage for RMB 200 and paid RMB 18.00 per person for hot shower where shampoo and soap was also provided. Shower cubicles don't come with doors so prepared to get naked in front of strangers (male and female are separate, though).
It is better than Dameisha because it's cleaner, less crowded, more life guards and cleaner shower rooms. For obvious reasons, it comes with a price. Also, this beach is accessible via public bus 380 B or 380 A.
If you have been to beaches in Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and other Pacific beaches, Xiaomeisha might disappoint you. My tip is, just don't expect too much from this little Chinese beach. It's already one of the best in the area.
You may opt to have a picnic and bring your own food or just eat from the cafes and restaurants by the sea. Also, if you somehow forgot to bring your swim wear or an extra shirt, you can purchase one from their boutiques.
We swam for a couple of hours and only left the water when a sea snake started swimming with us.

Reviewers have complained that this beach is a mess during the summer months, but it was clean in February, because -- guess what -- there's hardly any people there. It's too cold for sunbathing or swimming! It was about 20 C (68 F) while we were there.

There were beautiful views from the beach and the sea waves were fun for a while but the water is also not very clean.

The crowds didn't bother me, but the mess that they left behind was disgusting. Unless you go at at time when there are no Chinese people e.g. October? Weekdays? the beach and water will be permeated with garbage.

Xiaomeisha beach is cleaner than Dameisha but it's best to avoid visiting during the peak months which is during national holidays and summer holidays. Wouldn't advise people to visit during the weekends as it's often overly crowded. Weekdays are better with fewer people.
