Large zoo, good variety of animals, a bit out of the way

We weren't sure what to expect, but brought out 16 month old daughter to visit as she loves animals (at least the ones in picture books). We were pleasantly surprised. There is a... read more

It's worth a visit. With many animals and in good health conditions. U can get to see them up close. Be here early when park opens as there is a lot to tread and see. Various shows as well. Take a map and plan which shows you want to see and roam accordingly. Wear sport shoes as too much to... More

We saw a small portion of this zoo as we came mainly to see the Pandas. The pandas were great. They have two males and one of them was up and very active when we visited. We liked that part. The part that we didn't like is that most of the enclosures we saw were extremely small and inadequate for... More

We went there expecting great adventure, but the zoo was not so great... yeah, was nice to feed giraffes with green leafs and go inside of small car in between tigers and lions feeding them with a little pieces of meat, but the filling was like "i am so sorry for this poor animals" than "wow", and this attraction was... We weren't sure what to expect, but brought out 16 month old daughter to visit as she loves animals (at least the ones in picture books). We were pleasantly surprised. There is a good variety of animals ranging from monkeys, large birds, zebras, giraffes, elephants, tigers, many more, and of course, pandas. For various animals, you can pay to feed... More

I have to start by saying I only saw a very tiny park of this zoo, inside the safari park area. I visited on a day tour to China and we stopped here to see the panda bears, which was great. Both bears were up and active which made for some good pictures. From what I could personally observe of... More

A large zoo with a wide variety of animals. An impressive collection, but as you would expect, not kept to Western standards. Some of the enclosures were small and overcrowded. Not at all in approval of animal shows and tricks and all that kind of thing. I also think more staff should have been around to deter the public from... More

Really puzzled as the poor reviews on here especially from westerners who seem to think they should get everything for free. Entry was 200 rmb totally worth it as I was there all day. Included in this are 8 different shows which you may or may not watch it's your call. I liked the water show and the bird show.... More

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews of this place. Easy access using public transport (even for English people). Entry was reasonably priced at 200 RMB for an adult, you only have to pay extra to do activities such as feed or interact with the animals which there was no pressure to do. The animal were all in... Shenzhen zoo is Nanshan district, can take metro to Xili station and further take cab - about 15 mins drive. It is nice place, but ticket price (RMB200) is not worth it. Park is non smoking with designated areas for smoking, still can see Chinese people smoking all over park. Animals seem to be underfed and not clean. Many enclosures... More
