Though not as popular as Dameisha beach, Xichong is just as lovely and the water and sand are clean and perfect for swimming.

Nice place fast turning into a money-grabbing hot-spot
Sep 2021 • Friends
All about the money

This area used to be less about capitalism and consumerism. The grotesque reality is that they will try to rip you off a lot for a “communist” country.

Oh have a disposable income and free time young lad? Well it’ll bloody cost you for any comfort.

Specific examples include:

*Having to pay at the gate to access beach more than once in the same day. Even if you identify yourself as having paid they will charge you to re-enter. That means, if you want to go back to your hotel, or to meet someone and show them to your spot... you have to pay again. Outrageous extortion!

We had to pay at the gate again on the evening and we only wanted to go to a bar (which was also over-priced).

*to use a beach tent costs a fortune. 400 for a few hours. That’s more than it cost our hotel room per night!

I don’t expect things to be free but I don’t like business and local governments to take advantage of my tourism.

Great Beach and Coastal Hiking
Apr 2021 • Friends
DongChong to XiChong hiking is a must, takes 5-6 km and usually 4-5 hours. If able get there befor a sun rise, ideally overnight stay will allow be the first on the trails before the masses arrive ( on weekends). Both beaches are amazing, fine sand, cleaned, great for surfing and sun bathing even in winter months. XiChong beach is longer although completely wild and all buildings were raised down. Good hiking equipment is recommended as it can get steep and slippery ! Taking a boat back is RMB 100 per person or black taxis 80 per trip.

one of the coolest beaches in china
Apr 2021
i visited xichong beach during qinmin festival in april 2021. as these days are public holidays, we spent more time on the road than we'd on a regular day (it took 4 hours from the beach to Shenzhen by car on our way back)
the beach itself is very good, clean and big. entrance fee is 30 rmb. it's a popular spot among the surfers, there're many surf-clubs and you can rent a board, equipment or get a lesson easily. there's also parking and a shop at the beach.
what was a small disappointment, the fact that you can't get in the water and swim unless you surf. eventually we could get into the water for a swim, but not for long, there're guards who wouldn't let ppl swim. of course, we could go into the water ankle-deep, to take pictures, which was enough for local people, but i was a bit sad that i couldn't get a proper swim.
i'd come back there to surf, i liked the views and the village is cool, many places to stay and grab a bite.

Great beach
Jun 2019 • Friends
I went by car, so I won’t take the way to my review if going there by public transport, I guess it must be not easy. The entrance cost less than 20 rmb/person at weekend. The beachside is very wide and long. Most of chinese gathered at one part, after entrance, but if you’ll go further, you will find a lot of space with little amount of people. The water was not really dirty, only because of big waves something came from sea.

Best beach on offer in SZ
Apr 2019
Xichong (and it’s sister beach, Dong Chong), are the best beaches in Shenzhen (though not in the area).

This place is most popular with Shenzhen surfers, expats, and couples taking engagement photos. The scenery is really nice, and the distance from downtown keeps the worst of the crowds away.

Please note that all 4 Xichong beaches are currently CLOSED for the “whole month.”

Pictured is Dong Chong beach.

Second Visit Shenzhen Xichong Beach
Jul 2018 • Family
It's still worth to recommend compared with others, even it was my 2nd visit.

We arrived around beach 3.00 PM.
There're 3 entrance to get in the beach,we choose the No.3 Beach because here there's more place for parking.
We bought 2 tickets total cost 40Yuan ($5.88),as the kid is free, and we spent 40Yuan (($5.88))for packing car for one night. We prepared some food & snacks as there's no restaurant inside of the beach, but outside did.

It's still not complete developed, but it's more crowed compared the first visit in 2013.
Mostly of are family,I think because it's summer holiday.
We didn't book hotel, as this time we planned having a camp night with my boy called Miller,as he have been expected and get prepared for so long time,he selected each item in Decathlon(tent, blanket, tent light, flash light and ect)since 2 months ago.

We spent a great family time, especially for Miller, and play with sand is one of his favorite, it seems that he was never get tired:getting inside water with swimming ring, and learned big jump when big wave is close to him.
He even said to me proudly,
"Mommy ,I can swim now."
He was so happy. I believe that he said, but I still need send him to swimming course to learn skill.

(In fact,We spent one day in another beach-Shuang yue wan before we came here, which is located in Huizhou. But I ddin't like SHuang Yue Wan beach, as it's just in front of hotel, and there's mud mixes with sands. It's not so nice and nature as Xichong.)

We settled our tent 80-100 meter away from sea when it was 17:00,and there are more & more tents settled when getting dark,we put our stuffs inside staff and close tent. And only take the phone to take photos for keep good memory.Don't worry it will be get wet or fallen into water when you play in the sea.don't worry, you can buy a transparent & plastic bag to protect your phone,it's awesome because you can operate the phone even no need take it out.

The security forbade people get in water when it was 18:30 around,as the wave became big and strong, and it's too dark . It's not safe any more.

You have to take a shower before go to bed, and there's simple wash room which would cost 10 yuan($1.706) Yeah,It's very cheap because there's no tower, there's shampoo, small, and no tower ,no shampoo, only cold water, Yes It's c-o-l-d water.
Now you know why it's so cheap.
If you need use toilet cost 1 Yuan ($0.147).

After all of these.we ate some food. and played games. Finally Miller fall asleep at 23:00. There're more and more people keeping come to camp, some of them just off duty from work. We moved our tent when it was 2:00 A.M. as it's to noise.(I swear I won't camp again,I'd rather sleep in quiet hotel with hot water.)
And I only sleep 4-5 hours or even less.

People start wake up at 5:00 to watch the sun rising. It was a pity as that morning there's a little cloud. We didn't see the best sun rising.

We started put down the tent when it's 7:00. as it's very hot we wanna go home I miss my bed most.

There's too many cars in the parking. It's get more crowed as it's Sunday.

We wait few more minutes to get out of the parking.

Even I didn't sleep well, but still it's a nice & special memory for Miller, for me & my husband.

The funny thing is that as Miller chose a small tent in Decathlon,it's enough for 2 people only, and my husband have to sleep outside of tent.
Poor Man.
The lucky think we had a big water proof blanket on bottom of tent. So he didn't sleep on sand. l.ol.Don't worry!

Finally, I don't recommend camp, but still have people would like try . I think most of us is same,we always would like to do the things that we never do before.
Because it's called ADVENTURE. After we did It,it's called EXPERIENCE.
This is life!

(I just read my first review and It's terrible, there were so many spelling errors.
Please forgive me. I have give my readers the bad reading experience.

Very good for China
Jun 2017 • Friends
Just want to make clear this is not really a beach destination, so the "very good" is compared to other beaches you may find in China. Xichong Beach is accessible by private car, taxi or bus, about 1 1/2 hour drive from central Shenzhen. You have to pay a little to enter the park/beach area. The beach is kept clean, often has good waves for surfing, and several decent restaurants on the beach. You can rent large canopied areas with comfortable chairs, surf boards, floatations, and many other beach gear. You can also rent a BBQ pit and they will supply the coal and rack and some skewers for you. Better bring your own BBQ utensils and an extra rack for better experience.

Not so pretty beach.
Sep 2017 • Couples
We travelled here on a Monday, mainly to avoid the weekend hordes. My husband and I are avid beach goers and have been to Dameisha, as well as almost all the beaches in Hong Kong. We decided to check this one out ourselves after hearing so many different opinions. First off, the natural surroundings (ie. Mountains/trees) around the beach are beautiful, but, the actual beach has a shabby, shanty town feel to it due to the many, many tents, tent shelters, construction equipment and ugly open shelter type buildings at the top. You have to pay 13rmb to get in, and yet I am not sure if there were any facilities, as we didn't see any, and Considering the overall look of the place nor would I consider using them if there were. Considering the amount of people, it was not terribly dirty, but there was some trash floating around. The beach is very long, but unfortunately the majority of it was very narrow, causing people to clump together and make you feel a little closed in from all the tents and structures. No pretty umbrellas or cute cafes here, just really ugly, shabby stuff everywhere. It did not feel open and relaxing and comfortable because of all the noise and the boats and jet boats coming and going at high rates of speed. The water was very warm and relatively clear and calm, making it nice to swim. But that's all we can say good about it. For a Westerner, there are no inviting places to eat, just your typical dirty looking Chinese eateries. We found one Western bar, but it was super shabby feeling and very expensive with a 50¥ per person minimum. We decided this beach is just not worth the long ride (2.5-3 hours total) to get out here. It would take you the same amount of time to cross the border and go to a Hong Kong beach that are way more comfortable and have a relaxing atmosphere without the ugliness. Also, the little coastal village next to Dapeng Ancient Fortress is actually very pretty and nice to eat at, even if they don't have much of a beach, the environment is just way nicer and modern.

The best hiking route I have ever taken in China. If possible, make sure you pick a cloudy day so you won't get burned that much. Take the boat!
