The temple was nice and worth a visit. The area was easy to reach with a city bus. At the gate You can choos a bus to the top, but I felt fresh and decided to walk. I guess it took 30 minutes, and if You feel weak or tired I would recommend You to take the bus. Took a lot of nice pictures at the temple. Did not find any good places to stay for a lunch or a beer during the way, that would have been nice!

Great place for hiking, but it would be better to go early in the morning. Once having reached the top, we enjoyed a nice vegetarian buffet with only 58 RMB per one person. We also visited the temple but it was too shiny during noon time so we didnt spend much time there. We all sweat but it was so worthy n so enjoyable (: p/s: free entrance fee

One day, I went there to simply check and see why is this place a wonderful and great place to see. It turned out that the mountain itself it's more like a temple with nice roofs and ornate palaces! Overall, I can see Chinese characters everywhere on the palaces, nice!

Could be a nice experience if you like hiking and history/temples. I don't remember all the details now, but I've took a bus, which last stop was near the start of the trail. There were several services offering bikes for rent. Haven't meet any foreigners there during my trip. The temple itself looks pretty inside, with Phoenix painted near the ceiling.

This is a great place to hike and spend a morning or afternoon. The hike to the top can be difficult so plan at least an hour for the walk. Once to the top you will have a commanding view of the local city. Temple goers (for lack of a better term) pay some of the priests to set of a HUGE fireworks display for deceased relatives. It sounds like machine gun fire. Stick around long enough to see this because it is really cool. There are also a few shops in the temple grounds where you can purchase trinkets and religious items.

If you want a nice small Hike, this is a good place. Once you reach the top, there is a beautiful temple to to be viewed along with the other surrounding nature.

If you are into hiking this is not bad. There's some temple on the top of the hill. With some trees where the Chinese believe will bring love to your life.

We have been there on a sunny Sunday, so it was really overcrowded at the temples an the viewpoints. But the landscape is impressive and the temples are well maintained. Actually a bit too well maintained and obviously not really historic anymore. But this seems to be a common issue in China.
So if you have seen the real popular historic and temple sites in China or elsewhere in asia already, this one is expendable.
I wouldn't prefer this sight over many others in and around Shenzhen, but as resident it is fun to do it and invest a day. For short term travelers, it wouldn't be in my top 5

We live one bus ride from here and visit often. You can walk up to the temple and beyond. You can walk along the brook. You can walk by the lake. So we never tire of coming here but we avoid at the weekends.

I have only one complaint; this place is too popular on a Saturday. Avoid this place on the weekends. Because the trails are paved, you'll struggle to get past the thousands of slow-moving "hikers" on the mountain.
That being said, it is a wonderful place to spend a weekday. Great trails, streams and picnic areas! I particularly enjoy it because it is near most of the Bao'an manufacturers I visit. The dirtier parts of Bao'an can be oppressive and some of the greener parts of Shenzhen are hours away...so, for a quick outdoor refresher, Phoenix Mountain is only 2-3 subway stops from 10,000 factories.
