Maluan mountain is a great place to approach the nature
May 2019
Maluan Mountain is one of Shenzhen’s best-kept secrets. It's nearby a Xiaomeisha beach, with clear streams, lush woods, and a large warterfalls, people like to go the place for relaxing. Enjoy the beauty of nature.

Maluan Mountain Park and waterall hike.

You can take bus 103 or 103B from down town Shenzhen (i.e. opposite Shanghai Hotel on Shennan Road) to ShaoMeSha - 1 1/2 hour ride (7 yuan). From there it is about 1 km to the park. First of all you need a person who knows the area - there are many ways you can go wrong. If you want to see the waterfall (Shenzhen's highest), but not very impressive though, you need to be a little fit, because you have to jump from one big boulder to another. Good footwear is also necessary. Most of the paths are rough and not paved like many other parks around Shenzhen. The views from the top (about 500 m) are breathtaking. Near the top there are a little village with mane simple restaurants, where you can buy freshly made food and drinks (they butcher the chickens while you are waiting).
If you don’t want to walk the same way back there is a shortcut to OCT East, where you can hire a taxi (mostly touts) or take a special bus (15 yuan) down to a bus station near DaMeSha. From here abut 1 km to the main road and to bus 103 towards downtown.
Expect to use a whole day for this hike.

Really need someone who's been before

This is a hike off the beaten path and easy to get lost. I'd recommend going with someone who knows it.

Terrain can be tricky. However there aren't many people so it's a quiet nature hike. I really enjoyed it.

Located in Xiaomeisha. Behind ocean park. Not very well sign posted.

Good nature views

Took my friends and me around 2 hours from one side to the other. so bad at direction, so I can't tell which entrance. Felt the breeze under the waterfall. It would be great if there is some place for swimming. Recommend for hiking.

A gem in Shenzhen

This place is wonderful. Great place to go hiking, and see some awesome sights. A lot of nature can be explored on numerous trails.

I would recommend installing a hiking app on your phone that uses OpenCycleMap, as that has all the trails listed. You can get lost easily without it, as many trails are not marked, and if they are, they are not in Chinese.

there is an excellent waterfall at this coordinate, that you must see: 22.639746,114.334198

there is a protected 180 year old tree at this coordinate: 22.638998,114.328835

there is a very beautiful look out at this coordinate, where you can see a long cascading waterfall beneath the trees: 22.625819,114.321577
