Forty-five percent of this peaceful, urban park's 59-heactare area is covered with water. On this December visit, the beautiful lotus flowers of summer are gone.

I visted this park on June 6, 2011 to see the beautiful lotus blossom. This park is located in the downtown in Shenzhen. Just take bus no. 82 at the Lowu Bus Terminal & stop at this park.. I never expected the park is so big & full of so many many lotus field. It is the time of blossom of lotus in June every year & definitely is worth to visit it. Strongly recommend to visit this park during their Lotus Festival from 8 June 2011 to 19 June 2011.

I came to Honghu Park without any expectations. I never thought that there can be so much lotus plants in this park. Just when I thought I've seen them all, I realized that I was just at one part of the park so we decided to explore a bit more. We walked from end to end and saw a big lake where people actually fished for food. We also found the Buji Graffiti wall at the quiet side of the park.

Park entrance is free. We came here by bus which dropped us off at the park entrance. Buses 309, 357 and 366 can take you to the park. We came from the North of Shenzhen so the bus dropped us at the park entrance. If you will come from Luohu, it will drop you across the street.

Another option is to take the metro Longgang line (blue line) and alight at Shuibei station. Walk for a couple of minutes to reach the entrance.

You're allowed to bring food and beverages in the park (so as your own fishing gear) and you can enjoy a nice picnic should the weather be fair.

Fishing is free of charge. There are several bathrooms in the park too.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit. Might come back soon to fish.

This park is easily accessible via metro or bus, depending where you want to enter the park. It is spacious and offers some lovely shaded retreats, perfect for a steamy Shenzhen day. The lotus flowers on the lakes are a beautiful sight and at times in the middle of the park, you tend to forget that you are in the middle if a massive city. Another favourite of ours to regularly visit.

The facilities at the swimming pool are a little shoddy but the pool itself is okay and we spent a few hours there before exploring the park. This was our third visit and the best we've seen the lotuses. Being a weekday the park was fairly quiet so we stopped several times, sat and enjoyed the blooms

Finally visited this park as it's been on my to do list for ages. I left disappointed. The park is very big and spacious and very green as all shenzhen parks are. I feel that there is much unused potential in this park. There is a large lake, some statues and a children play area. But there wasn't as much colour and vibrancy in the park as I would have liked. Doesn't rank in the top 5 parks I've been to in shenzhen. Limited english signs also. Toilets are numerous and ok.
It has its own bus stop outside the front gate.

We have visited the park on 23 June but unluckily there were heavy rain during the week and still wet this morning . According to my experience, the best timing for viewing and photo-taking on lotus full bloom and undisturbed leaves this year within the park should be around 15 June. Nonetheless, blooming would continue until August but in different stages on lotus growth. So you can come here to take photos on lotus with withered leaves in autumn as well. by the way, It is very convenient to come here by taking No. 82 public bus direct from Lo Wu Train Station and entrance to the park is free.

To escape the fast-paced lifestyle and mad traffic conditions in the city of Shenzhen, this park is one of many to relax in and savour the green lushness and natural quietude. The best time to indulge in this precious gem of a natural surroundings is during the work week close to the dusk. Entry is free and the location can be easily accessed from all directions around it.
