Shenzhen is Deng town

You need to see the portrait and then look around with awe. One visionary man, a party keen to rid itself of the mess of the cultural revolution, and the results are astounding. Its now just over 40 years since Deng opened up the boarder area and now Shenzhen from fields is the third largest city in China

Deng Xiap Ping is the Lee Kuan Yew of China. His guiding light brought billions of people out of poverty and into the global economy. The world needs more Deng Xiao Ping. I've come to this place to pay my respect to his infinite glory. History will remember Deng as the one of the greatest leaders to have ever living along side Lincoln.

It is a big photo of a great man.
Nov 2015 • Couples
Deng Xiaping was a great man. He moved the Chinese nation away from the Progressive social leanings of Mr. Mao towards a much more Conservative business-oriented direction. He is single highhandedly responsible for making China the economic powerhouse that it is today.

That being said, all this place is is just a big billboard. That's it. However, near by are two sights. Behind the billboard is the huge Lichi-park. That is a very nice and free park that one can spend hours in. Also, not so well known is a free historical museum to the left of the sign. Just walk down the street for about ten minutes. The museum is set back off the rod, but just help yourself and walk inside.

This is an easy place to get to as all the drivers know the location. It is also a very central location. One can go to the most excellent and large Mix-City mall with it's hundreds of stores and restaurants, or go to the Shenzhen stock exchange. All worthwhile places to visit.

So while this billboard might not be the most significant item on your tour agenda, it lies smack dab in the middle of the vibrant life of what Shenzhen actually is. And for that reason alone, it is worth a visit.

Just a big photo
May 2016 • Couples
It's a good historical site for China fans, such as myself, but probably not worth going out of your way to find it. It's just a giant photo of "the man". It was just around the corner from my hotel so I went down and took some photos. Not much else in the area to visit, but is a really vast open plan modern city scape. Lovely place. The Shenzhen Museum is about 300 metres away also.

It's what's behind the photo..!
May 2015 • Solo
As you see it in the photo here... It is a large image of Deng Xiao Ping... If you are familiar with history you know the good and bad about the man... In this case his claim to fame is the founding of Shenzhen.

For me what's behind the photo is more interesting... Go directly behind the billboard and you will find Lychee Park..!
